Greens on Screen started its life in 1999 before many of the football sites that we are familiar with today, including Plymouth Argyle's own official site. Greens on Screen is dedicated to the sights, sounds and history of Plymouth Argyle Football club. It is owned and run by the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, a charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and display of the heritage of our great football club.

The site owes its existence to Steve Dean.Without Steve's dedication and commitment for over 25 years, GoS would not exist and be the valued and loved resource for all football fans that it is today. The site is truly the envy of many clubs, and we owe a huge debt to Steve for his tireless work, and continued support behind the scenes.

Greens on Screen's first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sights and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan's Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC's history. A year later, we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors. Greens on Screen was taken over by its new custodians, The Argyle Archive, in 2024.

Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by a team of volunteers from the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (Argyle Archive). Without the hard work and much-valued contributions of these volunteers, running the site would not be possible. Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky.

Greens on Screen remains advertisement free, which means we are grateful for the generous support of our donors and the work of our volunteers to help keep it free of promotions. If you would like to support the work of Greens on Screen, please consider donating to the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive.

GoS's sole aim is to be a service to fellow supporters, and we look forward to continuing to celebrate Argyle'ss history for many years to come.

Friday 28th November 2025

Argyle have been in touch with Zimbabwe FA about the expected inclusion of Brendan Galloway in their squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. Although the tournament kicks off in Morocco in late December, the squad is being called together on 8 December - one day before Argyle's away league fixture at Wycombe for which Cleverley wants Galloway to be available.

However, the good news is that Ayman Benarous, who had to be substituted at Port Vale, does not have a hamstring injury as had been feared, so will be available for selection against Northampton at Home Park tomorrow (29 Nov).

26th

Senior Greens held their monthly meeting in the Argyle Lounge. The speakers were from the Women's team - Head Coach, Marie Hourihan (who admitted to being the second cousin of Conor with an 'e') and two players, defender Caitlin Smith and goalkeeper Hermione Cull. The audience was both entertained and impressed.

Former Argyle defender Johnny Newman has died. He was 91.

The legendary defender played 327 times for Argyle between 1960 and 1967. He was known as a fearless footballer, a captain, and a man who commanded the respect of all around him.

Johnny was our second-oldest living player, the oldest being Ronnie Waldock, who turns 93 next month.

RIP Johnny.

New Argyle director of football, Derek Adams, says he is ready to offer advice to Tom Cleverley but first-team decision-making will be down to the head coach. He sees his role as director of football and nothing else.

Speaking to Plymouth Live, he said he wanted to take away the pressure off Cleverley from dealing with other aspects at the club, such as talks with players' agents and transfers in order to allow the 36-year-old to fully focus on his squad and prepare them for matches.

"I haven't worked with Tom before," he said, "and it is vital we have a good understanding of each other, that has been clear from day one. Tom realises why I'm at the football club and we have worked really well together.

"I'm here to take the pressure away from the head coach in dealing with aspects of the football club. Not from the coaching point of view because that's not my remit, it's to deal with the transfer business, what we are going to do in January.

"It's to be a sounding board at times. I have managed 750 games but I have managed four years at Plymouth Argyle. I know the football club, I know the demands inside the football club, I know the demands from the supporters.

"It's really to help him, even ask me questions on 'How would you deal with this situation?' And then it's up to him as the head coach to make his own opinion.

"I'm a very supportive person and I want to do the best for him and I want to do the best for Plymouth Argyle Football Club as well, and that means that we can all work together."

Argyle have launched a new partnership with Plymouth-based organisation M.A.N. Culture. It aims to shine a light on the reality of male violence against women and girls and to enable culture change by being open and listening to the views and opinions of the men and boys in Plymouth, while challenging behaviours that cause the fear and harm of male violence.

The campaign will be launched at Saturday's home game against Northampton Town. Stand Up, Stand Together, highlights simple, everyday actions and examples of male allyship that men and boys can take to help women and girls feel safe.

Argyle Chairman, Simon Hallett, said: "At Argyle we aim to make a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds, and partnerships such as this help to make that possible.

"Women face difficulties every day that as men we cannot fully understand until we listen and learn from those experiences. The work of M.A.N Culture is so important in making those conversations a reality.

"We hope this partnership provides an opportunity for men to have honest conversations around masculinity and male violence, and address cultural issues and harmful behaviours.

"This is the start of a partnership that we hope can go from strength to strength and resonate throughout the football world."

24th

Hazard and Szucs have made the Sky EFL League One team of the week.

Argyle Women will travel to Oxford United in the third round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup.

Marie Hourihan's side faced the Oxfordshire outfit twice in November, beating them on both occasions in FAWNL and League Cup action, and will now face an away match-up with them on Sunday, 14 December.

23rd

Argyle Women advanced to round three of the Women's FA Cup with a 2-0 victory against Gwalia United at Home Park. The ending of the match was marred by a scuffle in the middle of the park between Gwalia's Bonnie Gready and Argyle's Phoebie Poole, both of who were shown straight red cards.

22nd

Argyle beat Port Vale in an entertaining, if tightly fought, Sky Bet League One clash at Vale Park. Lorent Tolaj's goal on his return to Vale, after 18 seconds of the second half, was the difference between the two sides on the day, ensuring the Greens took all three points back to Devon.

However, there was a concerning injury to Benarous Having come on as substitute in the second half, he had to be substituted himself with a suspected hamstring injury.

Argyle: Hazard, Ross, Szucs, Tolaj, Mumba, Mitchell, Boateng, McCabe, Galloway (Benarous (Paterson)), Sorinola (Edwards), Dale (Ralls). Substitutes (not used): Ashby-Hammond, Wiredu, Oseni.

Man of the Match: Tolaj. GA attendance 888.

"The most important thing was the clean sheet today," said Head Coach, Tom Cleverley. "We looked really solid. Obviously, they're going to pump it in the box and make you backs-to-the-wall in the last 10 minutes, which it was. But I thought, in the main, we looked really solid today. We reduced them to very little.

"Conor Hazard's had a great two weeks. I know we conceded at Huddersfield, but it's the best game he's had under me, then he has a clean sheet with his national team and then a clean sheet today. He really looks back to his old self now.

We knew there could be a possibility there wasn't going to be 20 shots on their goal today, but we had quality when it mattered. Most importantly, we looked defensively solid today.

"The team dug in, they rolled their sleeves up. Sometimes it's not all about structures and tactics. It's about really driving each other on, staying together, suffering together just before half-time. And like I said, the credit goes to those guys today."

Argyle Under-18s exited the Professional Development League Cup, despite claiming a 4-3 victory against Cheltenham Town.

It was goals galore throughout the 90 minutes and, although the Robins took the lead several times throughout the game, Argyle were able to claw back and further their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions.

The Greens needed to win by three goals to get to the next stage, so that was a frustration, but the performance and the victory a fifth in a row made it a positive morning's work.

Coach, Jamie Lowry, said: "Conceding a couple of cheap goals didn't help us, but in terms of the boys giving everything and doing anything they could to get back into the game, they were excellent.

"It's five wins on the bounce now for the boys, so our confidence is high and form is good. Overall, I'm really pleased and we're moving in the right direction with some really good performances."

Argyle: 1 Jack Flower, 2 Jovan Wamani (15 Billy Devlin, half-time), 3 Malachi Davy, 4 Oscar Dean (capt), 5 Sam Hayman, 6 Toby Haley, 7 Kian Burch (16 Frankie Maund, 55), 8 Sam Lord, 9 Fletcher Poole, 10 Seb Campbell, 11 Tashall Sandhu. Substitutes: 23 Tom Armytage (gk), 12 Toby Maclean, 14 Joel Tolcher.

Goals: Poole 12, Davy 67, Maund 81, Devlin 83.

Tom Cleverley has said that Derek Adams will be taking the lead in recruitment when it comes to the January transfer window. Cleverley will continue to be the chief decision-maker on first-team issues but will use Adams as 'a sounding board'.

Cleverley told Plymouth Live's Chris Errington, that it had been a very good first week. "I think the first impressions are that we connect as characters. We are very clear on what we like, we are decisive," Cleverley said. "Derek is the guy who knows exactly what I feel and what I need and he has been a great source of support in the week he has been here. We are connected in many ways. We are passionate about this club and football.

"From a technical level, Derek will be a good sound board for me rather than I have to report to Derek or he's advising me.

"For me, it has been a really good first week. When you are in a real important position in a football club you have to give clarity and that is definitely high up on Derek's attributes and I have liked it."

Cleverley also admitted that he had a points target for the next 10 games as Argyle struggle to haul themselves off the bottom of the League One table.

"It's not something I usually do but we find ourselves in a tricky situation so I think it's important we know exactly what success looks like out of these next 10 games," he said.

"I know I said something different in pre-season, but I always think this period now is where you can judge where your season looks like it's going to go and what success will look like.

"We have set a short-term target for the next 10 games and I will let you know after that whether we were successful or not."

After a gap because of the international break, Argyle now have 10 games in the next six weeks--up to 4 January--which are likely to define the rest of their season and whether they can avoid back-to-back relegations to League Two.

Injury update: the good news - Amaechi and Pleggy have been in training and are close to a return. Edwards and Benarous are fit to travel for the weekend and Ralls will be in the squad for the first time as the team travels to Port Vale. But the bad news - Ibrahim has suffered a freak injury in training and will be out 'for months' with a significant ankle injury.

On a lighter note, the EFL and Panini have unveiled a sticker collection for all teams across the Championship and Leagues One and Two in which, of course, Argyle features.

Argyle Life has won a bronze in the best content creator category of the Football Content Awards.

Congratulations to Argyle Women's Olivia Francis, Phoebe Poole and Tiana Teisar who have all been called up to Wales's final camp of 2025. However, this has resulted in the postponement of the team's match against Real Bedford and the Celebration of Women and Girls in Sport event which had been due to take place at Home Park on Sunday 30 November. Both will be rescheduled to another date.

Happy 21st birthday to Argyle goalkeeper, Zak Baker.

18th

Argyle Under-18s put three past Milton Keynes Dons in the FA Youth Cup fixture at Home Park. Two goals from Tegan Finn after an own goal by the Dons saw the young Greens to a comfortable victory.

Argyle's round of 32 tie in the Vertu Trophy away to Leyton Orient has been confirmed for Tuesday 2 December with a 7 pm kick off.

17th

Women's coach, Marie Hourihan, was delighted with her sides away league victory against Oxford United - the second win against this team in a week.

"It's always difficult playing the same team back-to-back," Hourihan told Argyle TV. "Last week, it was two very different halves for us, so it was about taking a lot of the positives out of the second half and learning from last week. Our start had to be a lot better, and I thought that was certainly evident today. I thought, in the first half, we were outstanding.

"We didn't allow them to settle into the game, and our distances in the press were so much better. I thought we won the ball well, got into some good areas, and created some good opportunities. We potentially could have scored some more goals, but I was delighted to go into half-time 1-0 up.

"The team played with a lot of control, but also a lot of authority, which was really pleasing for me to see. This is a difficult venue to come to, and Oxford have some strong players, especially in the middle of the pitch, and we managed that really well.

"I'm a purist, and want us to have and dominate the ball, but there are times where you've got to tough it out and show a bit of grit and resiliency, and I think we saw all sides of that from us today.

"That second-half game management, especially the last 10 minutes, was great, and we frustrated them really well. The most pleasing thing for me is we've come away with a clean sheet and got the three points.

"The starters, finishers; everybody was excellent.

"I think the appetite and the desire to really go and see how far we can push this season is a really pleasing thing for me. Hopefully, this victory, in coming to a difficult venue and getting the three points, builds even more confidence."

Former first-team manager, Tony Pulis, has urged Tom Cleverley to "keep believing in himself" and be "very basic and very organised" as he attempts to turn Argyle's fortunes around. Pulis also hopes that Cleverley will see Derek Adams's arrival as a positive and not as a threat.

Happy 70th birthday to Argyle Legend, Tommy Tynan.

Conor Hazard started in goal for Northern Ireland tonight in their World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg, keeping a clean sheet in the process. The other Greens' 1-0 win (courtesy of a Jamie Donley penalty) meant their play-off place is guaranteed.

A small fire in a portaloo outside Home Park was quickly put out without damage to the interior of the stadium. It comes five days after a similar event at St James Park, Exeter City's ground.

16th

Argyle Women squeeze out an important three points in the FAWNL South with a 1-0 away victory at Oxford United. In a tight match, full of chances, Arabella Suttie's goal five minutes before half time was the difference between the two sides. Argyle had beaten Oxford 3-2 at home in the Cup the previous week.

Argyle: 1 Hermione Cull, 6 Layla Proctor, 7 Charlotte Whitmore (23 Olivia Francis, 78), 9 Phoebie Poole, 11 Roisin Kivel (capt), 14 Katie Wilson, 17 Paris Dalton, 18 Caitlin Smith, 19 Ellie Noble, 24 Tianna Teisar, 26 Arabella Suttie. Substitutes: 21 Eilish Brogan (gk), 5 Giota Papaioannou, 15 Tamara Wilcock, 16 Ella Stephens, 30 Shana Dolbel.

Goal: Suttie 39.

Yellow card: Dalton 90+5.

The Greens are now unbeaten in 14 games in all competitions.

15th

With Argyle's home game against Bradford City postponed due to international call-ups, Argyle remain rooted to the foot of the League One table.

Meanwhile, two goals from Fletcher Poole and one from Tashall Sandhu, helped the Under-18s to a home 3-1 victory over Newport County in the Youth Alliance league.

Argyle: 1 Jack Flower, 2 Toby Haley, 3 Malachi Davy (12 Jovan Wamani, 73), 4 Oscar Dean (capt) (14 Joel Tolcher, 78), 5 Sam Hayman, 6 Toby Maclean, 7 Tashall Sandhu, 8 Sam Lord, 9 Fletcher Poole, 10 Seb Campbell, 11 Tegan Finn (15 Kian Burch, 65). Substitutes: 23 Tom Armytage, 16 James Sharpe.

13th

Argyle have been drawn away to fellow-League One side, Leyton Orient in the next round of the Vertu Trophy. The tie in the round of 32 will be played in the week beginning 1 December.

The next Fans Forum has been announced for 1 December. Taking part will be Simon Hallett, Paul Berne and Derek Adams.

Tom Cleverley has given an update on the situation with short-term signing, midfielder Joe Ralls, who has not yet played for the team.

"Joe just needs a little bit more time to gain his fitness," he said. "We knew that was the case. We would have him for at least 10 games even if his first game is at Port Vale. We weren't expecting to use him for these two (against Huddersfield and Bristol Rovers) and now he has got 10 days to get fit."

Defender, Brendan Galloway, started for Zimbabwe in their international friendly 3-1 defeat by Algeria. He was substituted in the 84th minute, apparently with an injury.

12th

Head Coach, Tom Cleverley, is set to meet the new Director of Football, Derek Adams.

Speaking to Plymouth Live's Chris Errington, Cleverley said: "I think this is a role that needs doing.

"Derek knows the club, he knows the level, he's very experienced, even though not in that role . I think he will be a good addition and be a really good sound board for myself and the coaches, as well as for David, the academy. I'm looking forward to working with him."

Cleverley said that Argyle have struggled to escape the hangover from the Devon Derby defeat by Exeter City. But he now sees signs that they are finally starting to recover.

Commenting on last night's last-gasp Vertu Trophy defeat by Bristol Rovers, he said: "It's the way it has been going. To have a man sent-off after two minutes, game plan out the window, so then it becomes about reshuffling the pack quickly and players' resilience, application, honesty, pride to wear the shirt. We saw all those things tonight.

"The players are not going to get the rewards or the satisfaction out of that performance they probably deserve, but the main thing for me is there has been a long hangover since the Exeter game. Of course it has been six defeats but there was one that really had long-lasting effect and it was that game.

"The players' confidence took a real hit and it has taken a long time to come back. I saw 40 minutes on Saturday and 93 minutes today that proved to me it's coming back. The application was the main thing tonight.

I'm really proud of the guys tonight. It has been a difficult, difficult period - and still is - because we have not turned the results around but I see the work going on internally, I now see it coming into fruition externally. In football you need a slice of luck and right now it's definitely not going our way."

11th

Surprise news from Home Park: Argyle have appointed former manager, Derek Adams, as director of football. According to a statement on the Club website, his role will be to "manage the men's first-team structure" alongside head coach Tom Cleverley and head of football operations David Fox and "provide strategic guidance" rather than being involved in "day-to-day coaching responsibilities".

"Derek is someone who knows Argyle well after a long period of time here as manager," Simon Hallett said.

"He has extensive knowledge across all areas of the football pyramid in both England and Scotland and will provide valuable support to both David and Tom as we look to come through this challenging period.

"He is someone that has experience of tough circumstances and will work closely with all areas of the men's football department to ensure results and performances improve."

Adams was Argyle manager from 2015 to 2019, four years which included a promotion to League One.

Since then, the 50-year-old has had three spells at Morecambe, and time at both Bradford City and Ross County.

Ten-man Argyle fell to a last seconds'defeat against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium in the Vertu Trophy. After Kornel Szucs' early red card, Argyle were able to contain the Rovers' side, often playing the better football until a goalkeeping error on the line led to the late goal from Kamil Conteh.

The Argyle squad included another Academy product - with teenage defender, Sam Hayman, being among the unused substitutes.

Argyle: Ashby-Hammond, Ross, Szucs, Tolaj, Mumba, Mitchell, Boateng, Roberts (Ibrahim), Sorinola, Dale, Finn (Paterson). Substitutes (not used): Baker, Oseni, Pepple, Hatch, Hayman.

10th

Women's Head Coach, Marie Hourihan, was delighted with her side's Cup victory yesterday but emphasised the need to battle throughout.

"If ever there was a time that you could describe that as 'a game of two halves', I definitely think today was the day," Hourihan laughed as she spoke to Argyle TV. "In the first half, we must give Oxford credit. I thought they were better than us with their intensity, intention on the ball, and aggression; they showed a lot more appetite than we did. They went into the break with a 2-0 lead and deserved it, in my opinion.

"They scored quite an early goal, and it probably knocked our confidence a little bit, and we may have lost our way slightly. We had some words at half-time, sorted some things out and corrected where things were starting to break down, and started to switch the ball with a lot more quality straight away in the second half.

"The aggression and appetite were so much better in the second half. That reaction was what I wanted. We'd given ourselves a mountain to climb, but I think anyone who watched that second half saw the momentum and energy that we had. We were relentless with our approach, so the pleasing factor for me was that reaction.

"We know we can't allow ourselves 45 minutes to get a real foothold in the game, and we must maintain that consistency when we start games and stamp our authority earlier on.

"At the end of the day, we were 2-0 down and we've come back to win 3-2. To show that resiliency is really pleasing, but we move on to another game against the same opponent next week, which will be a completely different game, and we need to be better prepared and better with our intentions when we start the game."

The Greens will travel to Lewes FC in the quarter-final of the FA Women's National League Cup.

The match is scheduled to be played on Sunday, 11 January, with Argyle at The Dripping Pan for the second time this season, after a victory earlier this year in league play.

9th

Argyle Women overturned a half-time, two-goal deficit to overcome Oxford United in the FAWNL Cup and progress to the last eight. In the pouring rain at Home Park, goals from Layla Proctor, Tiana Teisar and a penalty from Phoebe Poole saw the Greens to victory. The two teams will meet again next weekend in the league at Oxford's Court Place Farm.

Tianna Teisar has been voted Argyle Women's player of the month for October.

8th

Argyle fell to defeat against Huddersfield Town at Accu Stadium in Sky Bet League One, gaining six yellow cards in the process. Bojan Radulovic's late first-half strike gave the hosts the advantage before Dion Charles and substitute Cameron Ashia sealed the deal in the second-half for the Terriers. Lorent Tolaj managed a late consolation for the Greens, but it was not enough to overturn the deficit.

Argyle: Hazard, Ross, Szucs, Tolaj, Oseni (Mumba), Boateng, McCabe (Wiredu), Galloway, Ibrahim (Paterson), Sorinola (Roberts), Dale (Hatch). Substitutes (not used): Ashby-Hammond, Mitchell.

Argyle Under-18s scored an impressive 1-0 victory with a gritty performance against AFC Wimbledon in the Youth Alliance League South at Millennium Fields, the decisive goal coming from Frankie Maund. Wimbledon had previously been undefeated.

Argyle: 1 Jack Flower, 2 Toby Haley, 3 Malachi Davy, 4 Oscar Dean (capt), 5 Sam Hayman, 6 Toby Maclean, 7 Tashall Sandhu, 8 Sam Lord, 9 Fletcher Poole (16 James Sharpe, 79), 10 Seb Campbell, 11 Kian Burch (15 Frankie Maund, 58). Substitutes: 23 Tom Armytage, 12 Ollie Leg, 14 Trialist A.

The Under-15s kept up the youth winning ways with a 4-0 victory over Kidderminster Harriers in JPL Warriors League play.

7th

Happy 26th birthday to Argyle defender, Brendan Wiredu.

5th

Argyle have made a surprise signing with the addition of former Cardiff City captain, Joe Ralls, on a short-term contract, initially until January 2026.

Ralls, a free agent, is an experienced midfielder who played 384 games and scored 32 goals in 14 years with the club. He also had a loan spell with Yeovil Town.

Tom Cleverley said: "Joe has extensive experience at Championship level and will bring that experience and leadership qualities to our young squad.

"Alongside that, he is an exceptional footballer who will strengthen our midfield options and add versatility across a number of positions."

Head of Football Operations, David Fox, added: "It is clear we are in a position right now we don't want to be, and bringing in someone of Joe's calibre and experience was a no brainer.

"We haven't had the competition for places we need and Joe will add to our options in the middle of the pitch.

"He has experience at a higher level and although he will need a little time to get to full match fitness, he has kept himself in good shape since he left Cardiff so will be ready to appear soon.

"We look forward to seeing him in an Argyle shirt."

Joe will wear shirt no 32.

Marie Hourihan, the Argyle Women Head Coach, has been nominated for the October FAWNL Manager of the Month.

3rd

With the win against Gwalia, the Women Greens move up to third place in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division, ahead of Real Bedford and behind just AFC Bournemouth and Watford, who are both unbeaten in league play

Even with the comprehensive victory, Head Coach Marie Hourihan is striving for high standards, and felt like her side needed to step up from a first-half performance that saw them go into the break 1-0 up.

"With this being our third game this week (after the Cup win against Maidstone and the away league draw at Exeter), I think you could see it out there today in terms of a bit of fatigue," Hourihan told Argyle TV. "I actually think in the first half we were disappointing, for us. We were a little bit flat, lacked a bit of energy, and weren't at the races in that respect with doing the basics well, but still went into the break 1-0 up.

"We had to reiterate some points about how we wanted to exploit Gwalia in the second half, and I felt we played with better intensity, got more runners in behind to stretch them, and scored four more goals, so that's pleasing.

"The goal we gave away was pretty cheap on our part, and it's something that we need to be a little bit more diligent with, so it's disappointing to concede in that way. Overall, off the back of a three-game week, we've got to be pleased that we've taken the three points today.

"It shows how far this team has come with our expectations and our standards that we set ourselves, that we're disappointed to not have scored more, or the fact that we conceded. Like I said, the result is pleasing, but the performance level is the bit we're looking at.

"We're going to go into a block of fixtures now where we're getting into the last stages of competitions, and it's going to really matter. We need to have that consistency and that little bit of ruthlessness. We want to be at the top end of the league and be competing in all these competitions, and are aiming to win these competitions, so we need to set those high standards for ourselves."

Nineteen-year-old forward Joe Hatch has been recalled from his loan spell at Taunton Town.

Hatch signed his first professional contract in the summer and appeared five times for the Greens prior to joining Taunton on loan in September.

2nd

A brace from Charlotte Whitmore and a goal each for Tamara Wilcock, Tianna Teisar and Ellie Noble saw Argyle Women to an emphatic 5-1 home victory against Gwalia United.

Following the draw against Exeter in the week, Argyle remain in third place in the table on 18 points behind Bournemouth and Watford, with the equal best goal difference (+20).

Happy birthday to Argyle and Northern Ireland defender, Katie Dickson, who is 22 today.

Tom Cleverley reflected on Argyle's 'hugely disappointing' performance as his team crashed out of the FA Cup at Adams Park yesterday.

"We wanted a reaction from our last three league games, we needed a reaction, and I think we were nowhere near it in any aspect," he said.

"Today we were to a man well beaten... We didn't show any confidence on the ball, we didn't show any good technique. I've really focused recently on a defensive perspective, but today from a quality perspective, we were so far off the level.

"We've not dealt with disappointment well, that's the area where I've really seen a hangover from two years of losing a lot of football matches. When we do go behind, there seems to be a bit of an acceptance of that, so that's been disappointing, and it's a mentality we need to change."

Cleverley continued: "This isn't an overnight fix, let me tell you that for absolute sure.

"This is not a magic wand moment, this is a long, hard, painful road that will take months, will take transfer windows, and I'm willing to roll my sleeves up and be part of that."

1st

Argyle exited the Emirates FA Cup with a woeful 2-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers. Both goals were scored in the second half by Wycombe forward Cauley Woodrow, who converted a penalty midway through the second period, and then scored again with just more than 10 minutes to go. Argyle had a mere four shots to Wycombe's 18. The awful weather conditions offered a metaphor for the current run: it never rains, but it pours. This was a third away game in ten days. A third defeat. A third 2-0 scoreline.

Tensions rose at the end of the game with a confrontation between players and fans as the team was booed off. Only Hazard and Tolaj approached the Green Army to thank them for their support and express their regrets.

Despite the statement of support from the Board earlier in the week, the pressure is piling on Head Coach, Tom Cleverley.

Argyle: Hazard, Ross, Szucs, Paterson (Oseni), Tolaj, Mumba (Finn), Mitchell, Ibrahim (Boateng), Roberts (McCabe), Sorinola, Dale. Substitutes (not used): Ashby-Hammond, Wiredu, Galloway, Pepple, Campbell.

Happy birthday (although it probably wasn't) to on-loan winger, Owen Dale.
