Greens on Screen started its life in 1999 before many of the football sites that we are familiar with today, including Plymouth Argyle's own official site. Greens on Screen is dedicated to the sights, sounds and history of Plymouth Argyle Football club. It is owned and run by the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, a charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and display of the heritage of our great football club.

The site owes its existence to Steve Dean. Without Steve's dedication and commitment for over 25 years, GoS would not exist and be the valued and loved resource for all football fans that it is today. The site is truly the envy of many clubs, and we owe a huge debt to Steve for his tireless work, and continued support behind the scenes.

Greens on Screen's first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sights and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan's Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC's history. A year later, we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors. Greens on Screen was taken over by its new custodians, The Argyle Archive, in 2024.

Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by a team of volunteers from the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (Argyle Archive). Without the hard work and much-valued contributions of these volunteers, running the site would not be possible. Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky.

Greens on Screen remains advertisement free, which means we are grateful for the generous support of our donors and the work of our volunteers to help keep it free of promotions. If you would like to support the work of Greens on Screen, please consider donating to the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive.

GoS's sole aim is to be a service to fellow supporters, and we look forward to continuing to celebrate Argyle'ss history for many years to come.

Conor Hazard started in goal for Northern Ireland in their away friendly against Wales, keeping a clean sheet in the first half, as his side scored. He was substituted at half time and the game ended 1-1.

Bim Pepple was again an unused substitute for Canada in their 0-0 home draw against Tunisia. And Brendan Galloway did not even feature in the Zimbabwe squad which defeated Zambia 1-0, also in a friendly.

Women's Head Coach, Marie Hourihan, gave her reaction to Saturday's FAWNL Cup final defeat.

"The result is gutting, devastating, everything you can think of right now," Hourihan told Argyle TV. "It was a tale of two halves. We were nowhere near the levels that we've been consistently at this season in the first half, and we need to give Bournemouth credit. They came out of the traps really quickly and scored the goal early on.

"We did a lot of work on set plays and defended them well in the previous week, in the league fixture, so to go down so early, I was disappointed. You've got to factor in the elements of the occasion and bits, but at half-time we made a couple of changes and came out with a lot more intent, started to play a lot more and moved the ball a lot quicker, which was a problem in the first half.

"We got into higher areas of the pitch with quick, fast combinations and created three or four good opportunities, hitting the post and having the goal disallowed, but we just ran out of time and didn't manage to get that equalising goal.

"It's disappointing to lose in this way, but still, for me, we've got to look back on the journey we had to get here and take a lot of pride in that. We still have two massive games in the league to look forward to.

"We need to make sure that we finish off the season in the right way. We will recover from this and regroup. It will be sore for the next couple of days, but when we come back into training on Tuesday, our full attention turns to Oxford.

"Sometimes with football, games like this happen. It's about the character of the group to show now after this. We've done it before, and I'm more than confident in this group of players to do it again next week.

"The Green Army were phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal. Considering the logistics with us being in London, to have that amount here and hearing them consistently is a credit to the football club because that was fantastic."

29th

Happy birthday to Ronan Curtis, who is 30 today. Ronan has made 16 appearances for the Greens so far, scoring once and assisting eight times.

It's a big day in the capital for Argyle Women who take part in the FAWNL Cup final against their league promotion rivals, AFC Bournemouth. The match, to be played at the MATRADE Loftus Road home of QPR, kicks off at 3.30pm. A large turnout from the Green Army is expected. Argyle inflicted a 2-1 league defeat on Bournemouth last Sunday, the Cherries first home loss of the season.

The game will be televised, and available on BBC iPlayer.

Update, it was a heartbreaking afternoon for the Women and the Green Army who were there in numbers, led by Pilgrim Pete, as Argyle fell to an unlucky one-nil defeat. A goal straight from a corner was the scoreline difference, although there were suspicions that Hermione Cull in the Argyle goal had been held.

Bournemouth were dominant in the first half, but Argyle had the better of the second. However, that elusive goal would just not come. Noble hit the bar, there was a call for a penalty and Poole actually had the ball in the net, but it was ruled out for an earlier offside. Bournemouth took the honours, having not conceded a goal all tournament.

Argyle must now regroup for the vital league fixture at home to Oxford Women on Easter Sunday.

Argyle: 1 Hermione Cull, 6 Layla Proctor, 9 Phoebie Poole, 11 Roisin Kivel (capt), 14 Katie Wilson, 15 Tamara Wilcock (17 Paris Dalton, half-time), 18 Caitlin Smith (16 Ella Stephens, half-time), 19 Ellie Noble, 23 Olivia Francis, 24 Tianna Teisar (7 Charlotte Whitmore, 84), 26 Arabella Suttie. Substitutes: 21 Eilish Brogan (gk), 5 Giota Papaioannou, 29 Chloe Ingrouille, 30 Shana Dolbel.

This Saturday has been designated non-league day, as there are no Premier League or Championship games being played. Both Torquay and Truro have offered tickets at £10 to Argyle fans to attend their games. For Torquay it is necessary to show proof of having been to an Argyle, PL or Championship fixture this season. For Truro, please show your season ticket. Under-18s can watch for £1.

Bim Pepple was an unused substitute for Canada in their 2-2 draw at home to Iceland for whom former Argyle defender, Victor Pálsson started.

Talking of Bim, the man who gave him his first professional deal aged 16, is the subject of the latest Argyle podcast.

Tommy Wheeldon Jr. grew up in Devon, playing football in Plymstock and training with the Argyle youth team at Harper's Park. His journey didn't lead to him becoming a professional, but building an incredible coaching dynasty in the heart of Canada, at Cavalry FC.

Tommy has seen a young Bim break into the first-team as a teenager, learning from former Argyle youngster Joe Mason, and then go on and wear the green and white of the side he supports.

Argyle Women's final home game of the FAWNL Southern Premier Division season against Oxford United will now be played on Sunday, 5 April.

The clash against the U's was scheduled for the following weekend, but will now take place on Easter Sunday, kicking off at 2pm.

Marie Hourihan's side have faced Oxford three times already this season, in three different competitions, with Argyle coming out as victors twice.

After a win over Bournemouth, Argyle are firmly in the promotion picture, and this game against Oxford--the last home game of the season--could be pivotal.

Three new young players have joined the Argyle Academy. All three additions have impressed the Academy staff with their skill, commitment, and potential.

Toby Bright joins the Under-9s squad, through the pre-Academy games programme.

Conor Preston Jr is a recruit to the Under-10s from Argyle's partnership with Saints Southwest.

Theo Ide joins the Under-11s Academy group, after attending the Emerging Talent programme.

Women's Head Coach, Marie Hourihan, was naturally delighted with her side's stunning win over promotion rivals AFC Bournemouth yesterday.

"It was definitely a rollercoaster of a game," she said. "I thought we started the game really well. They are a difficult side to play against on a small and narrow pitch, so we had to adapt to that, but I thought we did so well and scored the opening goal.

"Our game management after that was maybe a bit questionable and allowed them the opportunity to put balls into our box, which we know they're good at, and a strength of theirs, and they got the equaliser from it. We had to ride a bit of a storm, so we must give them a bit of credit.

"We were tested at times, and they had a bit of momentum after the equaliser was scored, so to show that resiliency and find a winner... was really pleasing from my perspective.

"The emotions were running high after the winner. I think [earlier in the game] there were three or four times where we thought the ball had crossed the line or we were going to score and we didn't. We were thinking in our heads: 'is it going to be one of those days?' I'm thankful the players kept persevering.

"We had the momentum. You could sense it was coming, and I'm just delighted that they've been able to take that chance because I think we fully deserved it. It was 90 minutes of hard work.

"I don't think they've been beaten here for over two years. They're in that position in the league table for a reason because they're a very good and combative side, and they made it difficult for us, and we knew that.

"I thought we really rose to the occasion, and players stood up to that challenge. I'm delighted that we've come away with the result."

22nd

Tom Cleverley was delighted by Argyle's 'outstanding' performance in beating Huddersfield Town yesterday afternoon.

"Not only for the opposition we were playing against, but I thought the performance [was outstanding.]" said Cleverley. "To go to Reading last week, big occasion, the travelling support, and rise to that occasion, and then get up for another occasion against Stevenage on Tuesday.

"Today was the pinnacle, with close to a sell-out against Huddersfield, just above us and to put in a performance like that…

"I could go through every single one of them and tell you what they did right today, but as a team I thought we were intense, aggressive, dominant in every area. That all came together into a performance like that.

"[At half-time] first of all, [we said] 'no panic'. If you recreate that performance second half, you give yourself the best chance. It might not win you the game, but you give yourself the best chance. I thought we came out the blocks, we won duels, we scored from a set play, and then that gave us a big burst.

"The players know when we've executed and when we've not. In the first half, we did. Football sometimes doesn't reward you for that, so don't panic and keep doing the right things."

Argyle Women picked up an enormous three points in their hunt for promotion on Sunday afternoon, beating AFC Bournemouth 2-1 away from home.

An Una Lue rebound finish, in additional time in the second half, handed the Greens victory over the Cherries, after goals from Phoebie Poole and Kelci Bowers had the game level at the break.

The result keeps Argyle in second place, but extends the gap to six points over Bournemouth, with the Dorset side having two games in hand. Bournemouth have four games remaining, Argyle just two. Bournemouth have to play current league leaders, Watford, in their final game, meaning a dramatic end to the season's campaign.

Argyle will take on Bournemouth again next Saturday in the final of the FAWNL Cup at QPR's Loftus Road ground.

Argyle: 1 Hermione Cull, 6 Layla Proctor, 9 Phoebie Poole (15 Tamara Wilcock, 90+1), 11 Roisin Kivel (capt), 14 Katie Wilson, 16 Ella Stephens (3 Phoebe Hampson, 65), 17 Paris Dalton (2 Una Lue, 89), 18 Caitlin Smith, 19 Ellie Noble, 23 Olivia Francis, 24 Tianna Teisar. Substitutes: 33 Ella Stowell (gk), 5 Giota Papaioannou, 7 Charlotte Whitmore, 29 Chloe Ingrouille.

Goals: Poole 18, Lue 90+2.

Yellow cards: Francis 38, Stephens 60.

21st

Argyle, still injury hit, moved three places and three points nearer the play-offs with a stunning 3-1 defeat of potential promotion rivals, Huddersfield Town. The Terriers team included one former Green, Bali Mumba, but two others--Ryan Hardie and Mikel Miller--were absent from the squad. Despite Argyle's early dominance, it was their opponents who scored first leading to a 0-1 half-time deficit. However, Argyle came out in the second half firing on all cylinders, Owen Dale equalising after just two minutes. On 59, Oseni was chopped in the area and, aspiring Canadian international, Bim Pepple, stepped up to convert the penalty. The game was put to bed on 73 minutes when Oseni tapped in after Town's reserve keeper spilled a Pepple shot after a pinpoint cross from Dale. The no 18 could have had a second and a fourth for the home side when he sliced just wide, but the game was already won. With most other results for Argyle's rivals going in the Greens' favour, and the table tightening up, can the Green Army dare to dream?

Argyle: 1 Conor Hazard, 2 Mathias Ross, 3 Jack MacKenzie (45 Wes Harding, 68), 7 Jamie Paterson (24 Caleb Roberts, 78), 8 Joe Edwards (capt), 15 Alex Mitchell, 18 Owen Oseni (10 Xavier Amaechi, 88), 19 Malachi Boateng, 27 Bim Pepple (22 Brendan Galloway, 88), 28 Ronan Curtis, 35 Owen Dale. Substitutes: 21 Luca Ashby-Hammond (gk), 14 Ayman Benarous, 41 Seb Campbell.

Goals: Dale 47, Pepple 59, Oseni 73

Booked: Hazard 18, Dale 44, Amaechi 90+3

Attendance: 16,266 (563 away)

Man of the Match - Owen Dale.

Argyle Under-18s returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, picking up three points in a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth.

Emran Wischhoff's seventh minute finish put the Greens in the driving seat early on, with stellar defensive efforts and hard work pushing Jamie Lowry's side over the line at Copnor Road.

With several second-year scholars out on work experience loans, Lowry turned to a youthful line-up against Pompey, with changes all over the pitch, but it worked as planned.

Head Coach Jamie Lowry said: "I'm really pleased with how we played. In the first half, we were good in possession, passed the ball well and created quite a few chances, scoring a really nice goal. In the second half, they got after us a little bit more, and were more aggressive on the press, which made us a bit rushed in possession.

"The pleasing thing about that tough period was that we defended well and kept a clean sheet. The boys rolled their sleeves up, worked hard, blocked and made tackles, where I think earlier this season we might not have done.

"I'm really pleased with the boys' character and personality to keep a clean sheet, defend as they did and pick up three points."

Argyle: 23 Leo McCormick, 2 Joe Mwaro (capt) (12 Dylan Williams, 80), 3 Malachi Davy, 4 Billy Devlin, 5 Sam Hayman, 6 Toby Maclean (14 Corey Browne, half-time), 7 Tashall Sandhu (15 Oscar Dean, 65), 8 Joel Tolcher, 9 Frankie Maund, 11 Jared Rendle, 29 Emran Wischhoff. Substitutes: 1 Daniel Lay.

Goals: Wischhoff 7.

Yellow card: Mwaro 44.

Argyle Women's Head Coach, Marie Hourihan has won the FA Women's National League's Manager of the Month She won the award over Loughborough Lightning's Charles Baxter, Middlesbrough's Joe Lillie, and Stoke City's Sarah Richardson.

Hourihan said: "At the end of the day, I'm the face of a whole team, whether it's the players and the staff, but for me, to win this isn't an individual thing, it's a collective.

"A year ago, this team narrowly avoided relegation. Twelve months on, we're in a position where we're competing to be in the top two, and in the cup final. That turnaround doesn't happen from one person; that's down to the squad of players, the staff, and the whole football club.

"This is a celebration of what's been achieved from everybody across these last 12 months."

Forever Green hosted a 30th anniversary celebration of the 1996 promotion-winning side at Club Argyle. Fifteen of the squad were in attendance and there was a display by the Heritage Archive.

Argyle striker, (Ar)Bim Pepple, has been called up to the Canadian national squad. Many congratulations: it is much deserved.

Tom Cleverley told Radio Devon: "For Argyle to be represented by a player playing for a major nation like Canada we're all so proud of him, his form's deserved that."

"Sometimes what happens is because he's playing in the third tier that can get overlooked, I know how the systems work, but thankfully they've seen through that and seen how well he's performing against strong teams.

"I'm so delighted because he had to prove a lot of people wrong at the start, which he did, and he did that through hard work and belief.

"Now he's flourishing and that's been represented by a call-up for his national team."

Caleb Roberts has been recalled from his loan spell with Truro City as Brendan Wiredu will be out for at least four weeks while he has surgery on a recurrent abdominal issue.

Argyle's away fixture against Bradford City scheduled for Saturday 28 March, has been postponed due to international call ups. As well as Conor Hazard (Northern Ireland) and Bim Pepple (Canada), Zimbabwe has also requested that Brendan Galloway, who has recently come back from injury, should join their squad.A new date and time for the rescheduled game will be announced as soon as possible. This means that, after the match against Huddersfield at Home Park on Saturday, Argyle's players will have a break of almost two weeks until they play Bolton at home on Good Friday (3 April).

This evening, the Argyle Academy held its Awards ceremony at which it was announced that 17-year-old Seb Campbell, has signed his first professional contract with his boyhood club.

Campbell recently made his professional league debut for Tom Cleverley's side after coming on as an 85th minute substitute away at Wigan Athletic.

He also became Argyle's youngest-ever goalscorer at the age of 16 years and 279 days after he scored on his debut against Spurs Under-21s in the Vertu Trophy.

18th

Tom Cleverley was naturally pleased with Argyle's win against Stevenage last night, but warned against complacency in the run-in to the end of the season.

"Having seen some of the results this evening, it's important that we didn't lose any ground," he said. "We've gained three points on Stevenage, a couple on Huddersfield but, more importantly, we've kept our momentum.

"I thought we were a little bit flat, and not as clean and crisp as we can be, first half, and then we improved that [in the] second half. I thought we took the initiative in the game, got a lot more field position because of our better play, which led to a lot of set plays - and ultimately set plays have led to goals for us this season.

"[I'm] really pleased with the second half. It feels like we're getting into a groove here where, even if we don't perform as well as we can do in the first half... there's an air of confidence about us, and I'm really pleased.

"It wasn't the worst evening to have a game that lacked a little bit of rhythm, although it wasn't the greatest watch.

"There's certainly a real togetherness about the group. I think that we've used the injury situation to try to create that. We are down to the bare bones. We are asking a lot from each and every one of those players that are fit, and they're producing the goods. Now we need one more push on Saturday to cap off a period where we've had so many games, we've travelled so many miles, and then we can reset a little bit before Bradford (on 28 March)."

17th

On St Patrick's Day, another team in Green scored yet another important win on the road to their play-off push. Argyle squeezed out a 1-0 victory and another three points at Home Park, courtesy of Danish defender, Mathias Ross. The first half was a dour affair in which Stevenage probably had the upper hand (or head) but Argyle came out strongly in the second period, taking the game to their opponents. A corner in the 57th minute from Ronan Curtis and Ross's header clipped the underside of the bar and in. Argyle could have had a second but, as the game progressed towards the 97-minute mark, some judicious substitutions, backs to the wall and solid defending saw the Pilgrims through.

Other results mean that Argyle remain in 10th spot on 56 points, but now only two off the final play-off place.

Man of the match - Mathias Ross.

Argyle: 1 Conor Hazard, 2 Mathias Ross, 3 Jack MacKenzie (22 Brendan Galloway, 79), 7 Jamie Paterson (10 Xavier Amaechi, 64), 8 Joe Edwards (capt), 15 Alex Mitchell, 19 Malachi Boateng, 20 Herbie Kane (4 Brendan Wiredu, 90), 27 Bim Pepple, 28 Ronan Curtis, 35 Owen Dale (18 Owen Oseni, 79). Substitutes: 21 Luca Ashby-Hammond (gk), 14 Ayman Benarous, 41 Seb Campbell.

Goals: Ross 57

Booked: Amaechi 90+3

Attendance: 13,945 (160 away)

Happy 30th birthday to Brendan Galloway. The defender has made 106 appearances in Green, scoring six goals.

Happy 18th birthday to Tegan Finn who, at 16 years and 230 days, became the Pilgrims' sixth youngest-ever player when he made his EFL debut as a late substitute in the 3-0 defeat by Leeds United at Elland Road in November 2024.

And finally, it's also a happy 29th birthday to former Argyle star, Ryan Hardie, who now plays for Huddersfield Town. Ryan in 29 today.

16th

Argyle Women's Head Coach was pleased with her sides defeat of Cheltenham yesterday as they battle for promotion, but felt they could have been more clinical in front of goal.

"Three points - that was the priority coming into the game," Hourihan told Argyle TV. "We are just boxing off these games now as we go into the home straight. I thought we started the game very well, on the front foot, but I think they were a little bit more open than we anticipated. We created some really glaring opportunities, and we need to be more clinical in those moments.

"Going into the second half, the message was quite clear - we need more composure in front of goal and be more clinical with the types of finishes that we are looking for.

"We did end up scoring two good, well-worked goals, despite having a similar story to the first half, but the main thing was to come away with three points and another pleasing performance, which we did.

"The slight frustration is that we've spent a lot of time looking to refine the decision making and our finishing in front of goal, but the pleasing thing for me is that we're creating these opportunities and we continue to do so.

"For me, momentum is key at this stage of the season. It brings confidence, which fundamentally leads to performances, and that's what we need to maintain going into two high-profile games now, with big stakes on them.

"These are the games you want to play, and this is why we work so hard for the past seven or eight months to get into this position, and now it's the opportunity that we've got to take.

"We know what we're going to need to do across these two games and feel like we're in a good place with the squad that we have available, so we will go into both those games in a confident mood."

15th

Tom Cleverley pronounced himself proud of Argyle's 'gritty performance' in their 2-2 draw with Reading yesterday.

"It's a good point; It's not two dropped today, even though we might have had the better of the second half," Cleverley told Argyle TV. "They had the ability to make five changes to their starting line-up, make five substitutes, and we just don't have those luxuries.

"To see us dig in as well as we did, and have the better of the second half, I couldn't be prouder of the lads in there giving everything to this football club. On another day we maybe win it, but I thought it was a good game of football; two really evenly matched sides out there today. It was a good game of football. I think both teams were going for the win and I'm proud of my players.

"We've been outstanding from set plays all season - attacking and defensive in the main. Ok, today we conceded one, which is a rarity for us. Nance and the guys have really done a great job with defensive set plays this season, and we had a little blip there for that one.

"Attacking-wise, again, it's been a real strength of our game plan. We looked really dangerous at every set play situation. Even when you don't play as well as you possibly can do, you'll always create chances and I thought that was the case for the first half.

"You have to put the opposition in context as well... we were facing a very good opponent today. I was really impressed with them, especially in the first 50, 55 minutes. For us to match that and have the character to deal with setbacks, it's good signs."

Cleverley said that the almost 3,000 travelling Greens gave the team an extra boost:

"For it to be a League One game between two play-off hopefuls, and the 10% that that gives the boys - they were a big part of the team talk today. I thought we put in a hearty performance that was worthy of our travelling support today."

Argyle Women recorded another excellent performance in a 3-0 win against Cheltenham Town Women at Home Park with goals from Paris Dalton in the first half and from Ellie Noble and Olivia Francis in the second. With hot-on-heals AFC Bournemouth only drawing with Exeter, Argyle remain in second, on 43 points, three ahead of Bournemouth who have now played two games fewer.

14th

Argyle, unchanged from the side which defeated Wigan away on Tuesday, twice came from behind to register and impressive 2-2 draw with a strong Reading side at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. In front of almost 3,000 Greens, Alex Mitchell scored to negate Reading's early goal. The home side went ahead again shortly after and led at the break. But Caleb Watts' 67th minute strike earned Argyle a deserved point. They could perhaps have won it as the death, but Ronan Curtis's shot went just wide. The draw keeps Argyle in 10th spot on 53 points, now only three behind sixth-placed Huddersfield.

Argyle: 21 Luca Ashby-Hammond, 2 Mathias Ross, 3 Jack MacKenzie (10 Xavier Amaechi, 77), 8 Joe Edwards (capt), 15 Alex Mitchell, 17 Caleb Watts(7 Jamie Paterson, 77), 19 Malachi Boateng, 20 Herbie Kane (4 Brendan Wiredu, 85), 27 Bim Pepple, 28 Ronan Curtis, 35 Owen Dale. Substitutes: 13 Zak Baker (gk), 18 Owen Oseni, 40 Joe Mwaro, 41 Seb Campbell.

Goals: Mitchell 7, Watts 67

Booked: Pepple 1, Mitchell 31, Curtis 55

Attendance: 16,277 (2,897 away)

Bim Pepple is our CT1 Player of the Month for February.

The Canadian forward scored five goals in the month, and contributed an assist, as Argyle picked up three massive wins in their pursuit of a play-off spot.

Pepple won the supporters' poll with 53% of the vote. Joe Edwards finished second with 20%, followed closely by Ronan Curtis on 18%, and then Mathias Ross with 9%.

Happy birthday to Argyle Women's defender, Katie Wilson.

Argyle duo Joe Hatch and Jack Matthews are going out on loan to Plymouth Parkway and Taunton Town, respectively.

Hatch was originally due to join Taunton but, due to an EFL regulation his registration was refused. He will now head to Parkway for a temporary spell.

Matthews has recently returned to full fitness and will link up with The Peacocks, looking to play regular first-team football.

12th

Argyle Women's forward Phoebie Poole has won back-to-back Player of the Month awards, after picking up the accolade for February, as well as for January.

Phoebe scored two of Argyle's four goals in a 4-1 win over Burnley, securing a place in the FAWNL Cup final.

She won the supporters' poll with 57% of the vote, ahead of Tianna Teisar (20%), Arabella Suttie (14%), and Ellie Noble (9%).

Argyle have been shortlisted as finalists in two categories at the 2026 Football Business Awards.

The partnership with local Plymouth charity, M.A.N. Culture, sees the club nominated for the Best Club Marketing Campaign - Non-Premier League award.

The second nomination for is the Women's Football Business Award, for the Club's continued efforts and commitment to growing the Argyle Women brand.

Results will be announced in May.

There is better news about Argyle first team's injury list. According to Plymouth Live's Chris Errington, Conor Hazard, Ayman Benarous and Brendan Galloway could be in contention for the visit of Stevenage on Tuesday 17 March. However, none of the injured players is expected to be available for Saturday's crunch game at Reading. Top goalscorer, Lorent Tolaj could return for the home fixture against Huddersfield Town on Saturday 21 March.

11th

Tom Cleverley has been nominated for the League One Manager of the Month award. The other contenders are Cardiff City's Brian Barry-Murphy, AFC Wimbledon's Johnnie Jackson, and Lincoln City's Michael Skubala. The winner will be announced on Friday 13 March.

Cleverley praised his 'special bunch' of 'outstanding' players for their performance against Wigan Athletic last night.

Speaking to Plymouth Live, he said that he was proud of the way his players have not used all the injuries as excuses and, instead, have got on with the task of winning games.

Cleverley said: "I thought we were outstanding, especially first half where we all but put the game to bed. We were good value for a two-goal lead.

"Deservedly went in at half-time two goals to the good. Second half, we were managing bodies, manging loads, managing ourselves a little bit.

"I thought we had another gear and should have been a bit more clinical on transition. Maybe got a bit lucky with the penalty incident but I don't think anyone can have any arguments on the winning team this evening.

Happy birthday to Women's Head Coach, Marie Hourihan.

Happy birthday also to Women's goalkeeper, Hermione Cull.

Marie Hourihan has been nominated for the February FAWNL Manager of the Month. The other nominees are Sarah Richardson of Stoke City; Joe Lillie of Middlesbrough and Charles Baxter of Loughborough Lightning.

Midfielder Brendan Wiredu is set to return to the Argyle squad for the away League One fixture against Wigan Athletic tonight, but on-loan defender Wes Harding is a doubt. However, Argyle have been beset by another couple of injuries - with Matty Sorinola having a serious ankle injury which will sideline him for some time and Wes Harding with a groin strain.

Argyle will also continue to be without a number of key players, including Conor Hazard, Brendan Galloway, Julio Pleguezuelo. Bradley Ibrahim and Lorent Tolaj as injuries continue to be a huge problem for them and Tom Cleverley has to manage the risk of playing them too soon against putting out his strongest team.

Despite all these injuries, Argyle continued their upward trajectory in League One with a convincing 3-0 away win against Wigan Athletic at the Brick Community Stadium. Some 555 hardy Greens had made the journey north to see a brace from Bim Pepple in the first half and a first goal from Caleb Watts in the second. Wigan should have been awarded a penalty for a handball by Mackenzie in the box which was missed by the referee, but Argyle were dominant and deserved their win. The game also saw the league debut of 17-year-old Seb Campbell who came on as a substitute for Watss in the 85th minute. The Pilgrims are 10th on 52 points - now only three behind Huddersfield who are in the final play-off place, with Wycombe one point above the Greens on 53 and Stevenage and Reading on 54 points - both of whom Argyle play in the next seven days. Argyle now also have a positive goal difference of three. They are currently 7/2 to make the play-offs and 18/1 for promotion back to the Championship.

Argyle: 21 Luca Ashby-Hammond, 2 Mathias Ross, 3 Jack MacKenzie (7 Jamie Paterson, 78), 8 Joe Edwards (capt), 15 Alex Mitchell, 17 Caleb Watts(41 Seb Campbell, 85), 19 Malachi Boateng, 20 Herbie Kane (4 Brendan Wiredu, 74), 27 Bim Pepple (18 Owen Oseni, 86), 28 Ronan Curtis (10 Xavier Amaechi, 78), 35 Owen Dale. Substitutes: 13 Zak Baker (gk), 40 Joe Mwaro.

On International Women's Day, Argyle Women notched up another victory in their quest for promotion from FAWNL Southern Premier Division as they beat Lewes Women at Home Park. Goals from Tamara Wilcock and Layla Proctor, one in each half, sealed the win. Argyle remain second in the league, after Watford put 14 past Billericay without reply and Bournemouth defeated Cheltenham 6-0 - both away.

Tom Cleverley attributed the change of formation (from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3) to Argyle's come-back win against Doncaster Rovers yesterday.

Speaking to Chris Errington, Cleverley said: "They (Doncaster) were the better side first half I thought up until the change of system when we went 4-3-3. Could I have done that a bit sooner, maybe 10 minutes before?

"I was a little bit annoyed with myself because we were getting outnumbered in midfield. We needed to get another body in there so we dropped Caleb Watts back down and we got a foothold in the game.

"I don't think it's necessarily always the solution is ranting and raving. It was a calmer half-time than you might expect.

"When you change system there is quite a few details you need to get in with that. 4-3-3 is not something we have done for a long time. It was important the players understood their jobs in the second half. Our mentality was strong today.

"Second half much better, the intensity, the care on the ball. The introduction of substitutes had a really good impact.

"Performances like that first half, four or five months ago would not be backed up then with a second half like that and a result like that.

"The mentality of the players is really strong at the minute, the supporters are helping, and I'm pleased we have managed to overturn a poor first half."

Argyle ground out a 2-1 win against Doncaster Rovers at Home Park. The Pilgrims struggled to gain any traction in what was a very unsatisfactory first half in which Doncaster looked strong and deservedly scored early through Elliott Lee. A tap-in by Bim Pepple in added time of the first 45 spared the team's blushes and probably boos.

A change of formation in the second half, and a number of substitutions swung the tie in Argyle's favour. Despite Ronan Curtis missing a penalty five minutes after the restart. After Herbie Kane's clever free kick on 74 minutes bounced and went into the box, the Greens held on for a much-needed result. With 49 points and in 10th position, the play-offs are still in sight, even if at a distance. If only Rotherham hadn't gifted Huddersfield a win, courtesy of an own goal...

This weekend's two matches involving the men's and women's teams have been dedicated to Her Game Too which aims to create an equal, safe and comfortable space for women to enjoy football.

Argyle Under-18s suffered a 1-0 defeat to Oxford United on Saturday afternoon at Millennium Fields.

A game filled with few chances in front of goal for both sides was won by an Albie Collins header in the 10th minute.

From the opening whistle, it became clear that a clinical nature was needed from either side to come away with a result from the match, with the bobbly surface causing possession issues from the outset.

Head Coach, Jamie Lowry, said: "Oxford are a very good side, so we had to be at our best today, and unfortunately, we conceded a poor goal early from a set play, where we didn't do our jobs properly, and they got a free header, and that won them the game,

"Apart from that, it was pretty scrappy and even. The pitch wasn't helping either team to really control possession, being bouncy and bobbly, but from our point of view, we just didn't do enough to win the game. I think we only had one shot on target in the whole game, which is just a lack of quality and energy, and somebody taking a bit of accountability to try to be a match-winner.

"Those little bits, from my point of view, were disappointing like the result, but, again, it's another learning curve and a great opportunity to put things right moving forward."

Argyle: 23 Leo McCormick, 2 Toby Haley (12 Jovan Wamani, 83), 3 Malachi Davy (15 James Sharpe, 83), 4 Sam Lord (capt), 5 Sam Hayman, 6 Lewis Flowers, 7 Tashall Sandhu, 8 Seb Campbell (14 Billy Devlin, 67), 9 Frankie Maund, 10 Fletcher Poole, 11 Jared Rendle (16 Emran Wischhoff, 70). Substitutes: 1 Thomas Armytage (gk).

Argyle Women's Under-16s JPL Warriors drew 1-1 with South Gloucestershire.

Tom Cleverley expressed his frustration and annoyance at injury-depleted Argyle's loss to Rotherham yesterday. That, and the number of fixtures recently, has taken its toll.

"I don't think I can be angry," he said after the game. "They're a group of players that are as thin as a squad of players gets. They're giving everything to the very last minute. Today we just looked like a team who is probably 10-20% down on energy, and the same in terms of quality.

"When you come away and you have 19 shots at their goal, we've got the quality in our group to turn up one or two of those into goals, today it just wasn't there.

"I felt like we showed good personality to go and get the equaliser, leaving ourselves a little bit open in the process. But that's the kind of team we are. That's probably why we've not had too many draws this season, because we take a lot of risk.

"Every time we seem to get on the verge of really being part of that play-off conversation, we just can't take that final hurdle.

"We just looked like a group where the last two demanding weeks maybe caught up with us a little bit. That was in all phases, not just the pressing, but I think the sharpness around their box. Normally you see our lads a lot more laser-focused and sharp to take those chances. We looked lacking a bit of energy today."

The Women's Under-18 team scored an impressive win in the JPL Warriors League - 3-1 over AFC Wimbledon,
