Greens on Screen started its life in 1999 before many of the football sites that we are familiar with today, including Plymouth Argyle's own official site. Greens on Screen is dedicated to the sights, sounds and history of Plymouth Argyle Football club. It is owned and run by the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, a charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and display of the heritage of our great football club.

The site owes its existence to Steve Dean.Without Steve's dedication and commitment for over 25 years, GoS would not exist and be the valued and loved resource for all football fans that it is today. The site is truly the envy of many clubs, and we owe a huge debt to Steve for his tireless work, and continued support behind the scenes.

Greens on Screen's first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sights and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan's Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC's history. A year later, we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors. Greens on Screen was taken over by its new custodians, The Argyle Archive, in 2024.

Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by a team of volunteers from the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (Argyle Archive). Without the hard work and much-valued contributions of these volunteers, running the site would not be possible. Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky.

Greens on Screen remains advertisement free, which means we are grateful for the generous support of our donors and the work of our volunteers to help keep it free of promotions. If you would like to support the work of Greens on Screen, please consider donating to the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive.

GoS's sole aim is to be a service to fellow supporters, and we look forward to continuing to celebrate Argyle's history for many years to come.

Argyle fell 3-2 at Ipswich Town, the side they edged into second in last season's League One title race, in a game not without controversy. The Pilgrims led early on via a glorious Morgan Whittaker goal, but perhaps the bigger moment of the first half came when huge claims of a foul on Mustapha Bundu, when he was through on goal, were dismissed. Town equalised through a Bali Mumba own-goal just before half-time, and took the lead via George Hirst early in the second period. Marcus Harness scored a third for the Tractor Boys which gave a crucial cushion, especially given that Joe Edwards narrowed the margin in stoppage time.

Argyle: Cooper, Mumba, Scarr, Hardie (Bundu), Whittaker, Miller (Waine), Gibson, Azaz (Edwards), Randell, Cundle, Kesler-Hayden. Substitutes (not used): Hazard, Gillesphey, Houghton, Pleguezuelo, Butcher, Warrington.

Argyle returned to winning ways with a slick 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, three welcome points from three fine examples of confident finishing. Mustapha Bundu set the tone toward the end of a tight first period, crashing a superb free-kick in off the underside of the bar from 20 yards, and the visitors were in big trouble when Morgan Whittaker steered a lovely second in first-half stoppage time. The Greens controlled proceedings with a calm assurance after the break and added some gloss to the victory with Ryan Hardie emerging from the bench to fizz a fine strike into the bottom corner.

Argyle: Cooper, Mumba (Miller), Houghton (Cundle), Scarr, Edwards, Whittaker, Bundu (Hardie), Gibson, Azaz (Pleguezuelo), Randell, Kesler-Hayden (Butcher). Substitutes (not used): Hazard, Gillepshey, Warrington, Waine.

The Greens were on the right course when Luke Cundle almost broke the net on 18 minutes and Argyle had plenty more to offer in a positive first period. Momentum shifted full circle on 56 minutes, Jerry Yates levelling from close range, and substitute Ollie Cooper gave Swansea the lead with a rasper from distance. It was game over when Josh Key added a third in the final minute.

Steven Schumacher has given an update on the fitness of Lewis Gibson who missed the game against Hull after suffering pain in his foot. The manager explained: "He has been carrying an injury for a couple of weeks. In a game somebody stood on the top of his foot and he has been trying to get through training sessions and get through games on pain killers and whatever. On Thursday afternoon in training when we were doing team shape he said it was too sore for him to continue. We have had him scanned today. We would have expected it to settle down over the last few weeks but it hasn't recovered enough so that allowed Macca to step in. I thought he did really well, obviously he has been injured for a long time.

"To throw him in at the deep end, it was a hard task, especially up against the Hull player Jaden Philogene, who was so quick. I know he made the mistake for the goal but, overall, I think he has done brilliant for us."

On the substitution of goalscorer Adam Randell, Schumacher added: "It was just tiredness. I think he was outstanding. Everybody played well today and that's what it's going to take for us.

"We know what we are up against every week in the Championship. We are all going to have to work so hard and that's what Rands did. I thought he was brilliant."
