The manager explained: "He has been carrying an injury for a couple of weeks. In a game somebody stood on the top of his foot and he has been trying to get through training sessions and get through games on pain killers and whatever. On Thursday afternoon in training when we were doing team shape he said it was too sore for him to continue. We have had him scanned today. We would have expected it to settle down over the last few weeks but it hasn't recovered enough so that allowed Macca to step in. I thought he did really well, obviously he has been injured for a long time. "To throw him in at the deep end, it was a hard task, especially up against the Hull player Jaden Philogene, who was so quick. I know he made the mistake for the goal but, overall, I think he has done brilliant for us." On the substitution of goalscorer Adam Randell, Schumacher added: "It was just tiredness. I think he was outstanding. Everybody played well today and that's what it's going to take for us. "We know what we are up against every week in the Championship. We are all going to have to work so hard and that's what Rands did. I thought he was brilliant." |
