The speakers were Argyle legends Chris Harrison and John Uzzell who entertained their audience with tales from the past which those present felt could have gone on for hours. 22nd
The game also marked the senior debut of Jared Rendle in defence, partnering Jack MacKenzie on his return from injury. The only downside was a significant injury to Owen Oseni on 33 minutes, with the player leaving the pitch in tears. Kyran Sylvanus’ brace and a goal from Brandon Downey gave Pompey all three points in the EFL Youth Alliance Cup. Argyle have now lost to Portsmouth and Exeter City in the competition but have games against Watford and Bristol Rovers to get their campaign back on track. Head Coach, Jamie Lowry, expressed his disappointment with the result: “I am disappointed with the performance,” he said. “We did not show the game enough respect. We made some changes because it was a cup game, and it felt like some of the lads thought we were just here to turn up and not have to do anything to win the game. “We had nowhere near enough intensity. In possession, we were not good enough against a really good and competitive Portsmouth side. “I trust all the boys and I will happily play every single one of them. There is no stronger and weaker side, and everyone has the opportunity to play and earn their shirt. If they play well, they keep the shirt, and if they do not, then someone else will have the opportunity to come and get it. “But I am hoping that the lads will learn a lot from today - that is what they are here for after all.” Argyle: 23 Leo McCormick, 2 Jovan Wamani (12 Dylan Williams, 76’), 3 Corey Browne, 4 Joel Tolcher, 5 Deniz Doru, 6 Toby MacLean, 7 Marley-Blu Francis, 8 Billy Devlin (capt), 9 Frankie Maund (15 James Sharpe, 64’), 10 Emran Boudarga-Wischhoff, 11 Harry Locke (14 Tashall Sandhu, 56’). Yellow card: Browne 28. 19th
In an entertaining and enthralling game, the hosts went ahead in the first half after Jordan Brown's strike deflected off Wes Harding and sent Murphy Cooper the wrong way. Oli Irow then brought the Greens level with a clinical finish and he got his second early after the interval with another deadly strike following a Ronan Curtis cross. Harvey White got Tom Cleverley's side's third with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box and Bim Pepple killed the game late on after Jerry Yates had made everyone Argyle nervous by reducing the deficit to one, but ultimately sending the 1,200 travelling Green Army home happy. Argyle: 1 Murphy Cooper, 5 Julio Pleguezuelo (2 Mathias Ross, 66), 7 Harvey White, 9 Will Evans (23 Bradley Ibrahim, 86), 11 Ronan Curtis, 14 Oliver Irow (17 Caleb Watts, 77), 15 Alex Mitchell, 19 Tyreeq Bakinson, 27 Bim Pepple, 29 Matty Sorinola (8 Joe Edwards, 66), 45 Wes Harding (capt). Roxy, 18, is a current Torquay player, who came through the Argyle Player Pathway. She is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour, and there has been a huge outpouring of support for the popular left-back. All proceeds from the fixture will be donated to the GoFundMe page set up to support Roxy and her family, which has now surpassed £20,000 in donations. The five-kilometre (just over three mile) run will begin in Central Park on Sunday, 15 November and is open to everyone over the age of 11 of any running ability. Entry is £5 per runner; each participant is asked to raise a minimum of £35 in sponsorship with all money going to Play Off Grief. 14th
The agreement is a two-year deal which will also see Portcullis Legals adorn the front of all Academy team shirts. “Portcullis Legals are delighted to become the Official Academy Partner of Plymouth Argyle, to help support future generations of Argyle players in striving to fulfil their potential,” said Trevor Worth, CEO and Founder of Portcullis Legals. “Given my own background in running Umbro Soccer Schools for 13 years and scouting for professional football clubs, the opportunity to partner again with Argyle was too good to turn down." 13th
He said: "You don't win any trophies or any prizes for being sixth in September but it's a significant moment. We have not been there under myself. "There has been a lot of hard work to get the 10 points from a really difficult six fixtures. I think we are back on par now when we look at targets for blocks of games. "We would have all signed for 10 points at the start of the season looking at the fixtures we had. Now we have got momentum and we need to not be complacent with that momentum and keep hold of it, work hard for it and push forward."
Goals from Arabella Suttie, Kerry Beattie and a Zoe Barrett double were enough to see the visitors emerge victorious in the FA Women’s National League clash. After the game, Argyle Head Coach Green spoke of his pride in his team after giving their all against one of the league’s strongest sides. He said: “I’m super proud of the group today, every player put their body on the line, everyone gave 110%. We ask for determination and desire to win the ball, and I think every single player did that for the 90 minutes. “I’ve got to say the support was fantastic again from everyone. I think the supporters will have seen some good patterns of play and a good shape. “We talk about getting small wins in each game, and there was definitely lots of positives to take from today.” Argyle: 1 Liv Giles, 4 Aliyat Lambe, 5 Ellie.M Bishop (capt), 9 Laura Curnock, 14 Shana Dolbel, 15 Kiesha Walker (20 Ciara Magee, HT), 16 Sienna Gilbert, 17 Kennedy Garside (19 Brooklyn Brothers, 58), 18 Farrah Ambrose, 21 Chloe Ingrouille, 25 Khloe Reed. Substitutes: 22 Saskia Worrall (GK), 23 Phoebe Bettey, 26 Mia Burrows, 30 Lily Coaker.
Jamie Lowry’s side have now won all four of their league games this season, although they were made to work extremely hard for their latest three points after initially surrendering a three-goal lead in a thrilling contest. Billy Devlin, James Sharpe and Frankie Maund put the Pilgrims ahead, but Bromley fought back to level the score by the 73rd?minute. Maund restored Argyle’s lead with his second of the afternoon, only for George Rees to equalise in the third minute of stoppage time. There was still time for one final twist though, as Campbell converted from the penalty spot eight minutes into added time to secure all three points. Argyle: 23 Leo McCormick, 2 Dylan Williams, 6 Toby MacLean (12 Corey Browne, 78), 5 Sam Hayman (capt), 3 Jared Rendle, 7 Tashall Sandhu (14 Harry Locke, 87), 8 Seb Campbell, 4 Joel Tolcher, 11 Billy Devlin (15 Marley-Blu Francis, 78), 9 Frankie Maund, 10 James Sharpe (16 Emran Boudarga-Wischhoff, 70). Despite the stats, Argyle were dominant throughout most of the game. After 20 minutes, Curtis headed after the Barnsley goalkeeper spilled the ball to make it 2-0 to the Greens at half time. Shortly after the restart, Bim Pepple held off the defender with great strength and scored into the Barn Park net to make it 3-0, the final result moving the Pilgrims to sixth in the League One table. Argyle can highlight a number of successes who have come through the Academy, including Seb Campbell, Tegan Finn, Caleb Roberts, Freddie Issaka and Joe Mwaro. More details are on the Club website.
The Head Coach does also not expect either of Argyle's games during the first international break of the season to be postponed. Argyle will host Burton Albion at Home Park on 26 September, before travelling to Brisbane Road to meet Leyton Orient on 3 October. If three or more players from a side are called up for their countries, the teams involved can request for the relevant fixture to be postponed.

The 20-year-old winger has played 40 times for Argyle, including six starts. Last season, he had loan spells with Bristol Rovers and Truro City. Gateshead are managed by Lee Cattermole, and their squad includes former Pilgrim Dom Telford.
Meanwhile, Jack Mackenzie is expected to make his comeback from a lengthy lay-off in the EFL trophy game at home to Crystal Palace on 22 September. And Michael Baidoo is making good progress as he recovers from the injury sustained in Argyle's final pre-season warm-up game against Bristol City on 1 August. However, defender Alex Hartridge has been ruled out with an ankle ligament injury sustained last Saturday at Doncaster Rovers when he came on as a late substitute. He is expected to be out of action for three to four weeks. 7th
Owen Oseni gave the Greens a 1-0 lead, before goals from Isaac Davies, Troy Perrett and Jake Davies sealed the win for the visitors. Tashall Sandhu netted a late consolation goal in eight minutes of added time to make it 3-2. The youthful Argyle outfit which included Joe Edwards and Owen Oseni, gave a good showing, particularly in the early stages, but the Professional Development League side proved too strong. Argyle: 1 Tom Armytage, 2 Joe Mwaro (capt), 3 Jared Rendle (15 Dylan Williams, 89), 6 Joel Tolcher, 7 Tashall Sandhu, 8 Joe Edwards (17 Jovan Wamani, 45), 18 Owen Oseni (11 Frankie Maund, 45), 25 Freddie Issaka (26 Billy Devlin, 66), 38 Seb Campbell, 39 Sam Hayman, 44 James Sharpe (30 Harry Locke, 89). Substitutes: 41 Leo McCormick (gk), 29 Toby Maclean. Goals: Oseni 43, Sandhu 90+8
Speaking to Plymouth Live, Pepple said: "He has got me a lot of goals that people don't see. Maybe he hasn't actually touched the ball but his movement has freed me up. "We all know what Caleb brings - goals and assists. I think at Leicester he could have got a couple but he was in the right positions. "Today, a goal and an assist in 30 minutes, that's what he brings. I think for him it's just about staying fit, which he's on top of it. We know we have a great player on our hands." 6th
"...it could have been 4- or 5-1 - and probably should have been,” he said “We're disappointed to concede a soft goal towards the end, but I'm thrilled with the result. “The mentality to suffer Tuesday's setback, which was a big opportunity missed, and then to come back from an in-game setback, ultimately with the substitutes winning us the game today and their impact, is really pleasing, because the mentality of the players was strong. “The fixture list has been tough. [including] three away games, playing four teams who were all expected to be top six... “We played the squad with the highest value budget, the early favourites, in the week and a tough place to go. If we knew how the game was going to go and realised we lost that game, we'd be frustrated, which we are and I think we showed a little bit of that today. “We won't now take our foot off the gas. I have to drive that Barnsley will come to us next week wanting to respond from a poor result today.”
Argyle fell behind inside the opening minute before Bridgwater doubled their advantage in first half stoppage time, and after that the Greens were unable to find a way through a resilient defence. Argyle: Liv Giles, Aliyat Lambe, Ellie M Bishop (Ciara Magee h/t), Laura Curnock, Shana Dolbel, Kiesha Walker, Sienna Gilbert, Kennedy Garside (Lily Coaker 62 mins), Farrah Ambrose, Chloe Ingrouille (Phoebe Bettey 79 mins), Khloe Reed.

Speaking to Plymouth Live, he said: "I think it's a huge opportunity missed. "We are coming to a side who are still finding their feet, who at times this evening looked scintillating but we turned the ball over five times in their box first half and didn't come out with a real clear cut chance. "We were never going to come here and dominate possession. I don't think anyone will, barring Stockport maybe. "Our game plan was to have a well-structured press, to turn the ball over high and then to transition. The transition part needs work. "Time that we have not got on the training pitch but when we do get that time it needs a lot of work. He added: "I thought for a big chunk of the middle of the game we lost a bit of confidence, personality and courage, and you see a much poorer version of ourselves. "I need to instal that back into the players. We have had two really tough away games in Wycombe and Leicester. We have lost our way a little bit in both. "We need to get back to what we are, and having no fear. So improve the players' mentality as well as technically we need to do some work on the training pitch." 2nd
