Greens on Screen’s first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sites and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan’s Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC’s history. A year later we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors.
Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by one person as a hobby, although there have been aspects of the site over the years that would be much the poorer without the hard work and much-valued contributions of a small band of volunteers.
Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky. Amongst a few stubborn principles, advertisements will never appear (and don’t get me started on the plague of betting promotions on other sites). It began its life before many others, including the club’s official site, when there was a large gap to be filled, and although there is now a wide variety to choose from, GoS’s sole aim, to be a service to fellow supporters, still seems to have a place.
Thanks to Dave Rowntree for many of the player images after 1984.

22-year-old Wright joined Argyle in early January 2023, signing for an undisclosed fee from Blackpool on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
As a youngster, Huyton-born Wright had spells with Tranmere Rovers, Everton and Blackburn Rovers before signing for Leicester City before he turned 18. He made his first appearance for the Foxes under-21 side in the Football League Trophy in 2018 at Rochdale and continued his development in the same competition the following season, making five appearances before Leicester bowed out at Newport County.
In 2020-21, Wright bagged his first goals for Leicester’s under-21s, also in the Football League Trophy before the opportunity to join Cheltenham Town on loan arose and he made the switch to the Robins for the second half of the season, finding the net four times in 17 games as Michael Duff’s side claimed the League Two title. Wright returned to Cheltenham the following season and found the net nine times in 37 matches as well as providing seven assists in a productive and impressive campaign.
His performances caught the eye of several clubs, including Argyle, while Leicester extended Wright’s contract, with the young midfielder featuring during the Premier League side’s pre-season fixtures. A deadline day move to Blackpool followed, offering Wright the opportunity to test himself in the Championship. After 10 appearances for the Seasiders, he made the switch to Home Park, becoming Steven Schumacher’s third signing of a busy transfer window.
Sorry, new contributions are not accepted until the player leaves the club.
