Greens on Screen started its life in 1999 before many of the football sites that we are familiar with today, including Plymouth Argyle's own official site. Greens on Screen is dedicated to the sights, sounds and history of Plymouth Argyle Football club. It is owned and run by the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, a charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and display of the heritage of our great football club.

The site owes its existence to Steve Dean. Without Steve's dedication and commitment for over 25 years, GoS would not exist and be the valued and loved resource for all football fans that it is today. The site is truly the envy of many clubs, and we owe a huge debt to Steve for his tireless work, and continued support behind the scenes.

Greens on Screen's first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sights and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan's Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC's history. A year later, we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors. Greens on Screen was taken over by its new custodians, The Argyle Archive, in 2024.

Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by a team of volunteers from the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (Argyle Archive). Without the hard work and much-valued contributions of these volunteers, running the site would not be possible. Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky.

Greens on Screen remains advertisement free, which means we are grateful for the generous support of our donors and the work of our volunteers to help keep it free of promotions. MURPHY COOPER

A 6ft 1" goalkeeper, born in Reading, he started his career with local side, Caversham AFC, before then joining Wycombe Wanderers to continue his youth development from 2010 to 2012. He then moved to Queens Park Rangers in 2012, after Wanderers' Academy closed.

He spent the 2021- 22 campaign on loan in the National League South with Welling United (five appearances) and Bath City (two appearances) before eventually joining Stratford Town (six appearances) over the Christmas period.

Upon his return to Loftus Road, he went onto make his debut for Rangers during a 2-1 away defeat to Preston North End in the Championship, in April 2022, before then signing a new two-year deal at the end of that season.

In June 2023, he signed for League Two club Swindon Town on loan for the duration of the 2023-24 season. He was ever-present for the Robins in League Two until his loan spell was abruptly cut-short due to a hamstring injury, having made 23 appearances.

In August 2024, he moved on again, joining League One club Stevenage on a season-long loan deal, playing 37 times in the 2024-25 season.

For the 2025-26 season he then moved to League One Barnsley making his debut for them in their opening day 3-1 win at Home Park. Having made 21 appearances, Barnsley activated a clause to end the goalkeeper's loan agreement early. This allowed him to move the comparatively short-distance to South Yorkshire neighbours, and Championship side, Sheffield Wednesday in January 2026, signing on loan until the end of the season, and making eight appearances for the Owls.

In July 2026, he left Rangers having made just two appearances across his five-year spell, and arrived at Home Park. He signed a two-year contract, for a six-figure fee, reported to be £150,000 (with add-ons).

Cooper was signed as Argyle's first-choice 'keeper, with Jimmy Storer as back-up and became Argyle's fifth summer signing after Alex Hartbridge, Wes Harding, Storer and Harvey White.
