Born in Bristol, midfielder Kane began his career as a youth with Bristol City before moving to Liverpool at the age of 15. In July 2018, whilst at Anfield, he was one of 100 young players nominated alongside Liverpool teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn for the Golden Boy award. He also won eight England under-17 caps in 2015.
As part of his development, he signed on loan for Doncaster Rovers in August 2018 and went on to play 49 times, scoring seven goals in League One, in the 2018-19 season. Buoyed by this success, he signed a contract extension with Liverpool and later made his competitive debut for the club in September 2019 in an EFL Cup match against Milton Keynes Dons, later adding a second senior appearance in the same competition and season against Aston Villa. He had also played for the Reds' under-21 side in the EFL Trophy in the 2019-20 season.
In January 2020, he joined Hull City on loan until the end of the season, playing nine times and scoring twice for the Championship side.
Unable to add further to his Liverpool appearances, in October 2020, he moved to Barnsley for a transfer fee of £1.25 million, signing a four-year contract. In total, he had spent six seasons at Anfield, making two appearances. He was then to spend four seasons with the Tykes, split equally between the Championship and League One. He played 134 times, scoring 12 goals. Whilst at Oakwell, he also had a season-long loan spell with Oxford United in 2021-22, playing 37 times, without scoring.
He was released by Barnsley at the end of the 2023-24 season, before, in July 2024, signing for League One side Huddersfield Town on a three-year deal
In two League One seasons with Huddersfield Town, he played 41 times and scored four goals. A groin injury early into the 2025-26 campaign meant eight of those appearances were early on at the start of that season before the injury.
He regained his fitness at a time when Argyle were struggling for midfield personnel with injuries to Bradley Ibrahim and Joe Ralls in particular. Having previously been linked with Kane in preceding transfer windows, Argyle finally got their man when he moved to Home Park on loan in the January 2026 transfer window, until the end of the season.
