JOSH BERNARD
Born: 12 April 2006
Came from: Trainee Currently on loan at: Tiverton Town
Appearances: 0 (0/0) Goals: 0
Born in Penarth, Wales, Bernard moved to Plymouth at a young age, and played football in the Devon Junior & Minor League, first for Manstow (in Ivybridge), and later for Plymouth Parkway.
A career in football was his dream but he was turned down by the Argyle Academy as a young teenager, and by 16 had all-but given up on his chances of a career in the game. After two months labouring on a building site, he joined the football education programme of the Argyle Community Trust - a mix of general edication and opportunities to play the game - and such was his development and commitment, he was given the chance to play for the Argyle Academy's under-18 team, making his first appearance in March 2023.
He became a mainstay of Argyle's under-18 side in 2023-24, helping them to win both the Youth Alliance and Merit Leagues, and his commendable rise was rewarded in June 2024 with his first professional deal.
In August 2024, he and fellow new professional, Jack Matthews, joined Tavistock on loan, and two months later, 18-year-old Bernard began a three-month loan spell at Tiverton Town.
