Lewis became the Pilgrims' first signing of the January 2021 transfer window when he joined on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season.

Born in Liverpool, the wing-back joined the Reds as an under-six and progressed through the club's academy to captain the under-18 side under Steven Gerrard, who described him as one of the finest young players he had worked with at that level.

As he developed, Lewis also progressed through England's youth ranks, representing his country up to under-20 level. He featured for the under-19s at the 2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Finland before making his under-20 debut later that year.

Lewis became a regular for Liverpool's under-23 side during the 2018-19 campaign and also trained with Jürgen Klopp's first team. Knee ligament damage kept him sidelined for four months during the following season, but he recovered to make his senior debut in the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town in February 2020.

That summer he signed a new long-term contract with the Premier League champions before joining French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC on a season-long loan. Opportunities proved limited, however, and Liverpool recalled him midway through the campaign. Within days of returning to England, he joined fellow Liverpudlians Ryan Lowe and Steven Schumacher at Home Park on loan for the remainder of the season.

Lewis made his Argyle debut as a substitute against Crewe Alexandra before scoring on his first start in a 2-1 victory away to Sunderland. Both matches, of course, were played behind closed doors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Returning to Anfield at the end of the season, and having never experienced a Green Army at Home Park, he spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan with Livingston in the Scottish Premiership, making 14 appearances. Loan spells with Newport County followed over the next two seasons, during which he made 54 appearances and scored three goals.

Released by Liverpool when his contract expired in the summer of 2024, Lewis joined League Two side Morecambe on a free transfer. He made 36 appearances and scored once before moving to Chesterfield a year later. After featuring 18 times and scoring twice, he joined ambitious National League North side AFC Fylde on loan in March 2026, helping the Coasters secure the title and promotion back to the National League.

Lewis made 11 appearances and scored once during his loan spell before returning to Chesterfield at the end of the season. He was subsequently released and, in July 2026, returned to AFC Fylde on a permanent deal.
