Born in Aalborg in Denmark, the 6ft 3in centre back became Argyle's first ever Danish player towards the end of the summer transfer window in late August 2025.
He started his football career as a 10-year-old at Aalborg KFUM, before moving to senior side AaB (Aalborg BK, or AaB Aalborg as they are internationally known) at under-13 level as part of their academy. Developing through the age ranges he was as named under-17 Player of the Year in for AaB in June 2018.
Ross made his professional debut for the AaB first-team in September 2018 and over the next four or five seasons, became an established first-team regular. In January 2019, he signed a contract extension keeping him in AaB until 2023.
Internationally he had appeared at age range level for Denmark, playing for the under-17s 11 times in 2017-18, the under-19s 17 times between 2018-2020, the under-20s, twice in 2021 before being capped three times in 2021-22 by the under-21s.
After six seasons with Aalborg he had played 100 times and scored six goals. In September 2022, he signed a four-year deal with Turkish giants Galatasaray. It was announced that a transfer fee of 1,750,000 (around £1.5m) would be paid to AaB.
Ross was part of the Galatasary squad which won the Süper Lig in the 2022-23 season, the 23rd title in their history. In three seasons with the club, he failed to make a Süper Lig appearance but did play twice in the Türkiye Kupası (Turkish Cup) in the 2022-23 season. He scored on his debut in a 7-0 home win against second tier GMG Kastamonu in October 2022, following that up with a second appearance against third tier Ofspor in a 2-0 win in November 2022 before a knee ligament injury curtailed his initial stint.
In July 2023, as part of his recovery, he was loaned out to Dutch side NEC Nijmegen. In total he made 25 appearances and scored twice for the Eredivisie side. In July 2024 it was confirmed that Ross had joined Sparta Prague to reunite with his former AaB manager Lars Friisa. This was a loan deal for the 2024-25 season, with a purchase option of around 1.2 million (around £1m). In total he played 16 times scoring once for the Czech First Division side.
In early July 2025, Galatasaray announced that it had parted ways with Ross. With the mass exodus at Home Park following relegation from the Championship the season before, and the poor start to the 2025-26 season back in League One, particularly defensively, Ross became the club's twelfth summer signing, being awarded a three-year contract. He joined just after the signing of another defender, Alex Mitchell, and had been in the stands watching the home defeat against Leyton Orient ahead of his signing being announced. There was expected to be a slight delay in his debut, given the player had not had a full pre-season and had been training alone.
