REG BUNGAY
Born: 05 February 1911
Came from: Tottenham Hotspur Went to: Bristol City
First game: 04 September 1933 Last game: 07 April 1945
Appearances: 4 (4/0) Goals: 0
Born in Reading, Bungay was playing non-league football with Oxford City when signed by Tottenham Hotspur in 1932. Without a chance in the first team with Spurs, he moved to Plymouth a year later, but despite spending two seasons at Home Park, he found chances almost as limited as they were at White Hart Lane. After just three appearances he moved to Bristol City in 1935, where he fared only a little better; just eight appearances for the Ashton Gate side before moving to Mansfield Town in 1936. The Stags were clearly his club; in a little over two years he played 87 times and scored 5 goals.
Having moving to Clapton Orient and playing in all three games of the abandoned 1939-40 season, Bungay returned to Plymouth (presumably on active service) and turned out for an Argyle XI at Home Park in September 1941 to raise money for the Plymouth Air Raid Relief Fund. He played against local sides when Argyle re-formed in 1944-45 and for the Reserves in the first half of the 1945-46 season, before joining Plymouth City Transport.
