Barnsley-born Logan, a defender who could also operate in midfield, began his career in non-league football with Worsbrough Bridge Athletic before spells with Belper Town and Gainsborough Trinity.
He joined the professional ranks in November 1993 when Neil Warnock signed him for Huddersfield Town. Logan quickly established himself in the first team and, in his debut season, scored Town's goal in the 1994 Football League Trophy Final at Wembley, although the Terriers were beaten 3-1 on penalties by Swansea City.
A former bricklayer before turning full-time professional, Logan followed Warnock to Home Park in October 1995 for a fee of £20,000. He quickly became a key member of the side and was virtually ever-present for the remainder of the campaign, playing a prominent role in Argyle's 1995-96 Third Division play-off success and starting the Wembley final.
After two further seasons in and around the first team, Logan joined Scunthorpe United, where he enjoyed a regular run in the side. He collected a second promotion medal in 1998-99 as the Iron won the Third Division play-off final at Wembley, beating Leyton Orient 1-0. However, he was unable to prevent the club's relegation from the Second Division the following season. In total, he made 80 appearances and scored seven goals for Scunthorpe.
Logan signed for Lincoln City in July 2000, but a succession of injuries restricted him to just 17 appearances over the next three seasons. A loan return to Gainsborough Trinity during the 2002-03 campaign was intended to help rebuild his fitness, but a second prolapsed disc in as many years ultimately brought his playing career to an early end.
Following his retirement from football, Logan returned to his native Barnsley, where he has continued to work as a builder and property developer.
