From St Stephen-in-Brannel, near St Austell, Pursall attended Brannel School and represented East Cornwall Schoolboys at under-14 and under-15 level. Having progressed through the Cornwall player pathway, he signed for Argyle's Academy as an under-9, and his encouraging development as a left-sided defender was rewarded when he was invited to join the England under-15 training camp in Loughborough for four days in August 2018.
Pursall played for the Pilgrims' under-18 side during the 2019-20 campaign and, at the end of the season, was selected for a two-year apprenticeship at Home Park. His senior debut came in early September 2020, as a 76th-minute substitute in a Football League Trophy defeat by Norwich City at Home Park, thus becoming, at 16 years and 176 days, the third-youngest first-team player in the club's history.
In total, he made eight appearances for Argyle, seven of them starts, but all came in cup competitions and he never made a Football League appearance. He also spent time away from Home Park, with loan spells at both Plymouth Parkway and Tavistock. He was released by Argyle at the end of the 2022-23 campaign and, for the following season, signed for Mousehole.
After a successful 2023-24 season in west Cornwall, Pursall left the club to move to Austria and sign for Linz-based LASK's reserve side, LASK Amateure OÖ, playing in the Austrian Regionalliga.
In February 2026, he joined 2. Liga side SW Bregenz on loan, having made 18 appearances for LASK Amateure OÖ. After making seven appearances for SW Bregenz, he was released by LASK and, in July 2026, joined fellow 2. Liga side SKU Amstetten on a permanent deal.
