Greens on Screen started its life in 1999 before many of the football sites that we are familiar with today, including Plymouth Argyle's own official site. Greens on Screen is dedicated to the sights, sounds and history of Plymouth Argyle Football club. It is owned and run by the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, a charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and display of the heritage of our great football club.

The site owes its existence to Steve Dean. Without Steve's dedication and commitment for over 25 years, GoS would not exist and be the valued and loved resource for all football fans that it is today. The site is truly the envy of many clubs, and we owe a huge debt to Steve for his tireless work, and continued support behind the scenes.

Greens on Screen's first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sights and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan's Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC's history. A year later, we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors. Greens on Screen was taken over by its new custodians, The Argyle Archive, in 2024.

Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by a team of volunteers from the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (Argyle Archive). Without the hard work and much-valued contributions of these volunteers, running the site would not be possible. Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky.

Greens on Screen remains advertisement free, which means we are grateful for the generous support of our donors and the work of our volunteers to help keep it free of promotions. Aimson followed Argyle manager Ryan Lowe from Gigg Lane to Home Park in the summer of 2019, having made 43 appearances under him during Bury's promotion-winning 2018-19 campaign.

The Hampshire-born central defender had previously played on loan for Tamworth and Tranmere Rovers from Hull City, who had signed him as a teenager from non-league Eastleigh.

His promising spell at Tranmere came to a sudden end in November 2014 when he collided with a team-mate, suffering fractures to both his tibia and fibula.

After recovering from the career-threatening injury, Aimson joined Blackpool on loan a year later, with the move subsequently made permanent. Following 69 appearances at Bloomfield Road, he signed for Bury in July 2018, where, alongside four future Argyle team-mates, he helped the Shakers win promotion to League One.

When he arrived at Home Park, Lowe described Aimson as a much sought-after defender with Championship potential. However, a pelvic injury disrupted his pre-season preparations and ruled him out of the opening weeks of the 2019-20 campaign. He made just seven appearances as Argyle secured promotion from League Two on a points-per-game basis in the COVID-curtailed season, with injury rather than form restricting his first year at the club.

His fitness improved considerably during the 2020-21 campaign, when he made 46 appearances as Argyle consolidated their League One status. Despite that, he was released at the end of the season.

Aimson joined Bolton Wanderers, where he spent two seasons, making 45 appearances and scoring once, before returning to Devon with Exeter City. He made 61 appearances and scored five goals for the Grecians, including the unfortunate own goal that handed Argyle a 1-0 Devon derby victory in April 2023 when Matt Butcher's shot deflected in off him.

In July 2024, Aimson left St James Park to join League One side Wigan Athletic on a two-year contract. He made 83 appearances and scored once for the Latics before it was announced in May 2026 that he would leave the club on the expiry of his contract.

The following month, he signed for League Two side Salford City.
