A tall, pacy forward who could also play out wide, Obadeyi joined Argyle on a two-month loan from fellow League Two strugglers Bury in November 2013.
Born in Birmingham, he began his youth career at Coventry City before joining Bolton Wanderers in 2006. He progressed through their ranks and made his Premier League debut under manager and former Argyle player Gary Megson in a derby against Wigan Athletic in December 2008. By then, he had scored five goals in just four appearances for England under-19s, alongside age-group contemporaries including Daniel Sturridge, schoolboy team-mate Andy Carroll and Argyle loanee Scott Sinclair. Obadeyi made two further appearances for Bolton, away to Arsenal and at home to Manchester United, with all three of his Premier League outings ending in narrow 1-0 defeats.
In 2009, he played twice for England under-20s, scoring once. That August, he joined Swindon Town on loan, scoring his first Football League goal later that month. His loan was extended twice to the 93-day emergency-loan limit, during which he made 12 appearances and scored twice. Further loan spells followed at Rochdale, where he made 11 appearances and scored once in the second half of 2009-10, and Shrewsbury Town, where he played nine times without scoring at the start of 2010-11. Back at Bolton, he signed a one-year contract extension in the summer of 2011.
Obadeyi joined Chesterfield on loan in November 2011, making five appearances under John Sheridan, before returning to Rochdale for a second spell in March 2012, where he made six appearances and scored once. Released by Bolton at the end of the season following their Premier League relegation, he had made only three first-team appearances for the club in four years.
In June 2012, he moved to Portugal to join Primeira Liga side Rio Ave, making 12 appearances before returning to England a year later to sign for Bury, then managed by former Argyle assistant manager Kevin Blackwell. He made two substitute league appearances and featured in the Football League Trophy but Bury’s poor start to 2013-14 and Blackwell’s departure limited his opportunities.
By November 2013, Argyle were the lowest scorers in League Two and the entire Football League, while striker Marvin Morgan was sidelined for several months with a shoulder injury. Sheridan therefore brought Obadeyi to Home Park on loan for a second time. Bury permitted him to play in the FA Cup but not in the league fixture against them during the loan spell.
After completing his loan at Argyle, Obadeyi returned to Bury but was released at the end of the season. In July 2014, he joined Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock on a three-year deal, scoring 12 goals in 68 appearances across two seasons. He then moved to Scottish Championship club Dundee United for 2016-17, before signing a short-term contract with Oldham Athletic on the final day of the January 2017 transfer window, reuniting with Sheridan. Following a successful spell, he signed a one-year extension five months later.
Obadeyi made 37 appearances for Oldham, scoring three goals, before spending 2018-2020 with French club Sochaux. He returned to Oldham in 2022, adding eight appearances, and subsequently played for Ilkeston Town and Gloucester City before joining Banbury United in the summer of 2023.
He made 20 appearances and scored twice for Banbury in the National League North before joining divisional rivals Hereford on loan in January 2024, scoring four goals in 12 games. Released by Banbury, he remained in the division with Kidderminster Harriers ahead of the 2024-25 season. He made two appearances as Harriers returned to the National League, then signed for Southern League side Alvechurch for 2025-26.
