Perhaps the Welsh outside-right had an early infatuation with the letter 'm'. Christened Morton Meredith Morgan and known as 'Monty', he was born in Mountain Ash and first signed for Manchester United in 1932. However, he was unable to break into the first team at Old Trafford and then broke the alphabetic mould by returning closer to home for a brief spell with Swansea Town in 1933.
He then made the move to Devon in 1934, but initially to Torquay United, where he played 133 times and scored 26 goals over the following three seasons. It was from Plainmoor that he was brought to Home Park in 1937 by Bob Jack. He played just 11 games on either flank before moving on to Bristol City the following year, playing just twice, after which records show no further League appearances or clubs.
