A six-month loan spell at Gimnastic followed in 2018 and upon his return to the Emirates at the start of the 2018-19 campaign, he made his senior debut for the Gunners in a League Cup match at home to Blackpool, which the hosts won 2-1.
In July 2019, Pleguezuelo joined Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente for an undisclosed fee, making 64 appearances in total and scoring three times over the course of four seasons before agreeing to become Steven Schumacher's first summer 2023 signing, following Argyle's return to the Championship.
