Following the Second World War, Plymouth Argyle resumed conventional League football in the 1945-46 season, albeit in the unconventional form of the Football League South. However, the club's senior players took part in a cup competition, the Football League West Cup, in the final two months of the 1944-45 campaign. There is more in Greens on Screen's History, chapter 16, about Argyle's post-war reiestablishment and first senior competition, here.
Argyle took part in nine games in this competition, but further facts are very hard to find, except for that revealed in short match reports in the Western Morning News. Wilkinson was one of 11 known players whose only appearance for the club was in a Football League West Cup match.
