Issaka made Argyle history on 31 August 2021 when he made his first-team debut as a 69th-minute substitute in an EFL Trophy match against Newport County at Rodney Parade. At 15 years and 34 days, he became the youngest ever to make a senior appearance for the club, so beating Lee Phillips's 16 years and 43 days, a record that had stood for nearly 25 years.
As a member of Argyle's academy, Truro-born Issaka progressed to become a regular for the Pilgrims' under-18 side, but his senior debut required special permission from his parents and Truro School. Over the following few months, he was selected for both Wales and England Under-16s whilst studying for his GCSE mock exams. In April 2022, with GCSEs imminent, he played again for Wales Under-16s and scored his first international goal, against Spain, and in October 2022 he was selected for Wales Under-17s in a tournament in Croatia, along with academy teammate Joe Hatch.
At 16 years and 107 days, Issaka's full EFL debut came on 12 November 2022, as an 89th-minute substitute at Lincoln City, so becoming the club's second youngest to play in the Football League.
