SAXON EARLEY
Full Name: Saxon Owen Earley
Born: 11 October 2002
Came from: Norwich City Currently on loan at: Lincoln City
First game: 07 January 2023 Last game: 12 August 2023
Appearances: 11 (6/5) Goals: 2
Earley, a left-back from Norwich City, was announced as Argyle’s second signing of the January 2023 transfer window following several days of speculation. The rumour mill had been well and truly stoked when Norwich had recalled the 20-year-old from a season-long loan at Stevenage, where he had helped the Hertfordshire-based outfit to second in the League Two table during his spell at the Lamex Stadium. Earley joined the Pilgrims for an undisclosed fee, boasting the highest tackle success rate in League Two that season.
Having joined the Canaries at under-9 level, Earley worked his way through the youth system before turning professional in 2021. In February 2022 he signed a one-year contract extension before moving on loan to Stevenage in July. In 27 appearances for Steve Evans’ side, Earley provided two assists and scored once, the opening goal in Boro’s 2-1 Carabao Cup win at Reading. While spending the majority of his spell with Stevenage at left-back, Earley also appeared in midfield, suggesting that Argyle boss Steven Schumacher saw perhaps a more versatile role for the youngster at Home Park.
