Greens on Screen started its life in 1999 before many of the football sites that we are familiar with today, including Plymouth Argyle's own official site. Greens on Screen is dedicated to the sights, sounds and history of Plymouth Argyle Football club. It is owned and run by the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, a charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and display of the heritage of our great football club.

The site owes its existence to Steve Dean.Without Steve's dedication and commitment for over 25 years, GoS would not exist and be the valued and loved resource for all football fans that it is today. The site is truly the envy of many clubs, and we owe a huge debt to Steve for his tireless work, and continued support behind the scenes.

Greens on Screen's first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sights and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan's Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC's history. A year later, we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors. Greens on Screen was taken over by its new custodians, The Argyle Archive, in 2024.

Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by a team of volunteers from the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (Argyle Archive). Without the hard work and much-valued contributions of these volunteers, running the site would not be possible. Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky.

Greens on Screen remains advertisement free, which means we are grateful for the generous support of our donors and the work of our volunteers to help keep it free of promotions. ONISMOR BHASERA

Bhasera, a Zimbabwean international left-back, began his career with Harare United before moving to South Africa with Tembisa Classic in 2004. A year later he joined Maritzburg United and his performances there brought him to the attention of leading South African club Kaizer Chiefs. After two impressive years with the club, he looked set for a move to Portsmouth, but a dispute over his contract saw the deal fall through.

After securing his release from the Chiefs he returned to England, training with Argyle whilst a work permit application was made. He finally signed for the club after a successful appeal and a prolonged wait for international clearance.

Despite the club's impending relegation, Bhasera did enough in the final weeks of the 2009-10 season to suggest that the protracted signing was worthwhile. This form carried over to the next campaign, when he occasionally played in a more advanced role under new manager Peter Reid. During the January transfer window he looked set to join Premier League side Blackpool on loan, with a view to a permanent transfer, but the deal fell through and he remained at Home Park.

In March 2011 Bhasera suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury which kept him out of action for the next seven months. On his return he made a significant contribution to the side which managed to retain the club's League status, playing regularly at both left-back and on the left side of midfield.

With his three-year contract due to expire in the summer of 2013 and having won the Player of the Year award for 2012-13, Argyle made overtures to retain Bhasera, but no contact was made with the club over the summer and he chose not to report for pre-season training. Trials with Yeovil Town and Turkish side Elazigspor amounted to nothing and with EU work permit issues complicating matters, Bhasera decided to return to South Africa to sign for Premier League side Bidvest Wits in Johannesburg on a one-year deal with the option of a second.

Bhasera remained with Wits until July 2016, when he moved to Pretoria to join South Africa Premier Division side SuperSport United. In 2022 the 36-year-old became the club's captain, at that stage having played 129 times in six seasons for the Swanky Boys.
