Greens on Screen started its life in 1999 before many of the football sites that we are familiar with today, including Plymouth Argyle's own official site. Greens on Screen is dedicated to the sights, sounds and history of Plymouth Argyle Football club. It is owned and run by the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, a charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and display of the heritage of our great football club.

The site owes its existence to Steve Dean.Without Steve's dedication and commitment for over 25 years, GoS would not exist and be the valued and loved resource for all football fans that it is today. The site is truly the envy of many clubs, and we owe a huge debt to Steve for his tireless work, and continued support behind the scenes.

Greens on Screen's first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sights and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan's Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC's history. A year later, we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors. Greens on Screen was taken over by its new custodians, The Argyle Archive, in 2024.

Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by a team of volunteers from the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (Argyle Archive). Without the hard work and much-valued contributions of these volunteers, running the site would not be possible. Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky.

Greens on Screen remains advertisement free, which means we are grateful for the generous support of our donors and the work of our volunteers to help keep it free of promotions. YOANN FOLLY

Folly was signed by Paul Sturrock from Sheffield Wednesday in January 2008, linking up with the manager he had also played under at Wednesday and Southampton. Although he was born in Togo, he had accumulated ten under-21 caps for France before becoming a full international for his native country in 2008.

Folly started his career at St Etienne before moving to Southampton in 2003, and then had brief spells on loan at Nottingham Forest and Preston North End. Joining Sheffield Wednesday on loan in January 2006, he did enough to persuade Sturrock to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Eighteen months later, finding himself out of the team, Folly requested a transfer and linked up with Sturrock again, this time at Home Park. He endured some lengthy fitness problems after joining Argyle, due to both illness and injury, and was unable to establish himself in the first team on a regular basis. Towards the end of his three-year stay in Plymouth he spent a month on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge, and was released two months later when his contract expired at the end of the 2009-10 season.

After a trial in July 2010 he then signed for Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League, a club that had also seen his former team-mates Chris Clarke, Rory Fallon, Kári Arnason, Jim Paterson, Steve MacLean and David McNamee on its books. Having scored his first SPL goal on Boxing Day 2010 against Hibernian at Easter Road, he broke a leg just a week later whilst playing against Dundee United, which, after 20 appearances, ended his 2010-11 season. Although he had signed a two-year contract, that proved to be his last first team game for the Dons and he was released when his contract expired in the summer of 2012.

During the 2012 pre-season Folly had a trial with Southend United, once again under Paul Sturrock, and played in a friendly alongside another former Pilgrim, Anton Peterlin. Folly retired from professional football on medical grounds shortly afterwards, aged just 27.

Folly was one of Paul Sturrock's promising signings of January 2008. Folly, a French midfielder, was in and out of the team as he battled various illnesses and injuries, that eventually forced him to retire at just 27. His time at Home Park is a forgettable one but many supporters will hold a soft spot for a talented player who was just very unfortunate.
