BILL WRIGHT
Born: 04 March 1931
Came from: Newcastle United Went to: Millwall
First game: 29 August 1959 Last game: 29 April 1961
Appearances: 46 (46/0) Goals: 9
Blackpool born Wright arrived at Home Park in 1959, part of the Blindell/Rowley idea of only signing players with First Division experience. Unfashionably tall for a winger, he could also play in the centre. He had previously played for Blackpool, Leicester and Newcastle but never established a regular place at any of those clubs. His ability was clear to see but over two seasons he managed only 46 appearances and 9 goals. Frequently injured, he could never get a decent run in the side. At the end of the 1960-61 season he moved on to Millwall but after just 15 games and no goals he dropped out of the League to try his luck with Tonbridge.
