Witter was drafted in on loan from Queens Park Rangers as the sands of time ran out on David Kemp's managerial reign. The big central defender's Argyle debut got off to a cracker when he stooped to head home a cross to put his new side 1-0 up in a 2-2 draw with Leicester City. The 26-year-old was also part of the seemingly precious 3-1 win at Barnsley (in which Dwight Marshall struck a hat-trick), but his third and final appearance in a green shirt came in an ignominious 4-1 hammering at Portsmouth. He left Home Park on 6 February 1992, and the unfortunate Kemp followed him shortly after.
