Swiggs followed in his father's footsteps by appearing for Argyle; his father Robert (Bob) had made three appearances in the mid-1950s. Almost thirty years later it looked as if Bradley was to repeat his father's feat when he signed on at Home Park on a non-contract basis from Liskeard Athletic in March 1984 to assist a striker shortage. After two Associate Members' Cup appearances, the Plymouth-born goal scorer did indeed equal his father's efforts when he made his League debut, starting the away match against Gillingham in May 1984. Only one more league appearance was added when he came on as a substitute in the home match against Orient eleven days later, leaving him a game short of his father's league total.
Manager John Hore offered Swiggs a permanent contract for the following season, but he turned down the deal, choosing for financial reasons to remain in his full-time job whilst playing for Liskeard Athletic. He went on to play for St Blazey and Saltash and remained prevalent in local football for many years to come, playing into his fifties.
