MICHAEL SIMPSON
Born: 28 February 1974
Came from: Notts County Went to: Notts County
First game: 05 October 1996 Last game: 03 December 1996
Appearances: 12 (10/2) Goals: 0
A two-month loanee during Argyle's third-tier consolidation season under Neil Warnock and Mick Jones in 1996/97, Simpson was a combative midfielder trying to find his way in the professional game when he turned up at Home Park. His 12 appearances in a green shirt reaped just two wins, and Simpson returned to parent club Notts County a wearier yet battle-hardened individual. He clearly channelled the experience positively - going on to make almost 300 appearances for Wycombe Wanderers, and was an integral part of the side that reached the FA Cup semi-final in 2001. He also went on to play for Leyton Orient and Burton Albion, before finishing his career in non-league football.
