HUGHIE REED
Born: 23 August 1950
Came from: West Bromwich Albion Went to: Crewe Alexandra
First game: 06 November 1971 Last game: 06 April 1974
Appearances: 58 (46/12) Goals: 11
Spotted playing for Scottish junior side Drumchapel Amateurs, Reed was invited for a trial at West Bromwich Albion along with his team-mate and pal Asa Hartford. Despite being signed by West Brom first, Reed did not make the same impression as his friend and left after four years and just eight appearances. Joining Argyle he made a great start, scoring eight goals in his first nine games from his position on the wing. However, this form deserted him and he lost his place, playing only occasionally over the next two seasons. After a short loan period at Brentford, he was sold to Crewe Alexandra where he spent two years before brief spells with Huddersfield Town and Hartlepool. Following his retirement he played for Middlewich Athletic.
