Greens on Screen started its life in 1999 before many of the football sites that we are familiar with today, including Plymouth Argyle's own official site. Greens on Screen is dedicated to the sights, sounds and history of Plymouth Argyle Football club. It is owned and run by the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, a charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and display of the heritage of our great football club.

The site owes its existence to Steve Dean.Without Steve's dedication and commitment for over 25 years, GoS would not exist and be the valued and loved resource for all football fans that it is today. The site is truly the envy of many clubs, and we owe a huge debt to Steve for his tireless work, and continued support behind the scenes.

Greens on Screen's first page was published in January 1999. Its early purpose was to bring Plymouth Argyle a little closer to those unable to see their team, and whilst it has changed a great deal over the years, its core themes - sights and sounds for Westcountry exiles - still stand. The site was very lucky to take on the content of Trevor Scallan's Semper Viridis in the summer of 2007, and in 2009 launched GoS-DB, a wealth of facts and figures from PAFC's history. A year later, we embarked on a complete history of Argyle, with much-valued contributions from chapter authors. Greens on Screen was taken over by its new custodians, The Argyle Archive, in 2024.

Greens on Screen is an amateur website and proud of it. It is run by a team of volunteers from the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (Argyle Archive). Without the hard work and much-valued contributions of these volunteers, running the site would not be possible. Greens on Screen is self-taught and as a result, a little bit quirky.

Greens on Screen remains advertisement free, which means we are grateful for the generous support of our donors and the work of our volunteers to help keep it free of promotions. KEVIN NANCEKIVELL

Nancekivell, a farmer from Bradworthy in north Devon, began his footballing career with Bideford before moving to Tiverton Town in 1996. He became a regular non-league goalscorer and twice an FA Vase winner with Tiverton, earning him a chance at Argyle at the age of 28. He made just a handful of substitute appearances for the club before he was loaned back to Tiverton, whom he re-joined permanently when released by Argyle after one season. Back at Ladysmead, he played three more seasons with Tiverton and helped the club gain promotion to the Southern League premier division in 2001.

Nancekivell joined Argyle's Centre of Excellence coaching staff in the 2004-05 season, taking up a role in their development centre in Holsworthy, with regular trips to Plymouth balanced with his work on the family farm and running a care home for adults with learning difficulties. In the summer of 2010 he qualified for his UEFA 'A' licence, and in November 2011 he was made first team coach by manager Carl Fletcher and went on to work closely with both Fletcher and Romain Larrieu as part of Argyle's fledgling management team.

After narrowly avoiding relegation from the Football League in 2011-12, Fletcher, Larrieu and Nancekivell signed one-year rolling contract extensions to stay at Home Park. However, on New Year's Day 2013, with Argyle teetering on the verge once again, Carl Fletcher was dismissed after a 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers. Larrieu and Nancekivell took charge of the team, but their one game at the helm did not end well - a 4-0 defeat at leaders Port Vale. Within days, John Sheridan took over, with Larrieu and Nancekivell in supporting roles, although the new manager quickly promoted Gary Owers from working with Argyle's u18s to first team coach.

Having successfully steered Argyle away from relegation, Sheridan then set about rebuilding the Argyle team on and off the field. In July 2013 Nancekivell accepted the role of Head of Coaching in the club's academy, also taking responsibility for the under-16 side. However, in January 2014 he moved to Torquay United as Professional Development Phase Coach, but following cost-cutting measures at the National League club, their academy was closed in June 2015. A few weeks later he returned to Home Park's youth setup, resuming his head of coaching role under academy manager Kevin Hodges.

Having obtained the prestigious UEFA Pro Licence, Nancekivell became Head of Academy Coaching in a restructure of the club's youth set-up in July 2017.
