Born in Ogmore in South Wales, Morgan began his professional career with Swansea Town, having previously played for the British Army. He spent nearly five years with the Welsh club, but rarely featured in their first team. He was brought to Argyle in 1953 as a potential replacement for Pat Jones but left Home Park three years later with Jones still very much first choice left-back. He returned to Wales to end his career with Barry Town.
