Harrison began his career with Chelsea, starring in their youth team before progressing to the senior squad. A left-winger, he was capped by England at both schoolboy and under-23 level but played for the first team only occasionally during his seven years at Stamford Bridge. Moving on to Blackburn Rovers in 1963 he played for the club 160 times over the next five years, scoring 40 goals. He was brought to Home Park by Derek Ufton in September 1967 and played regularly during his first six months at the club. However, he was dropped mid-season and after Argyle were relegated moved on to Luton Town, where he ended his professional career. He also went on to play for Dover Town.
