A player who will forever be associated with Peter Shilton's dismal relegation side of 1994/95, Gee was a desperate throw of the dice by Shilton that summed up the Argyle manager's luck that season. With an injury list that rivalled the Black Plague for casualties and an empty transfer kitty, Shilton was forced to rely on youngsters and stand-ins to pad out his side, and Gee was one of five loanees to experience an unhappy Home Park that season. Borrowed from Leicester City (whom he had joined after a long and reasonably distinguished spell with Derby County), the then 30-year-old was thrust straight into the Argyle first team at Blackpool - where he failed to score in a dismal 5-2 defeat. Four straight defeats followed, with Gee little more than a passenger in all of them, and fans and player alike were presumably relieved when his loan spell expired and he returned to the Midlands.
