Davies spent just over a year at Home Park after joining the club from Everton. A wing-half, reliable and energetic in either attack or defence, his career began before the war with spells at Chester City, Cardiff City and Wrexham, and also saw him win international honours with the Welsh Schoolboys. After playing as a war-time guest for Millwall, Charlton, Watford and Chester he moved to Goodison Park, where he made just one appearance before his move to Argyle. His career ended with a short spell at Bristol City.
