Casey began his career with non-league Leyton before joining Chelsea in 1954. He spent four years at Stamford Bridge, only rarely making an impact on the first team. He was brought to Home Park, with Wally Bellett, by Jack Rowley to provide a boost to the 1958-59 promoton campaign and was virtually ever present throughout the remainder of the season as Argyle won the Division Three title. Casey, a wing-half, was an automatic choice at the beginning of the following season, but lost his place in the team after the arrival of Johnny Newman. He spent two more injury-blighted years at Home Park before announcing his retirement.
