Nathan Blissett is the nephew of former Watford, AC Milan and England striker, Luther Blissett. Born in West Bromwich, Nathan began his football at Staffordshire University, where he captained the university's football team. He joined Northern Premier League Division One South side Kidsgrove Athletic at the age of 20, and then moved on to Romulus in the same division (the eighth tier of England's football structure) in the summer of 2011.
Leaving his job with British Gas, Blissett made the step up to the Blue Square Premier (fifth tier) by joining Kidderminster in July 2012, after impressing in a pre-season game against Romulus. He scored 11 goals in 61 games in just over two years with the Worcestershire side, which included a month on loan at Cambridge United (also in tier 5) in March/April 2013, and two loan spells with Hednesford Town in the Conference North (tier 6) in the 2013-14 season.
Whilst with Kidderminster he played on occasions alongside ex-Pilgrim Steve Guinan and future Pilgrim Jamille Matt.
In November 2014 Blissett signed for Bristol Rovers, who were then a Conference (tier 5) side. The move was initially a loan deal, but it was converted to a permanent transfer in January 2015. After helping Rovers achieve promotion back to the Football League that season, he was loaned to Tranmere Rovers in August 2015, and after his return to Bristol in October, he made his Football League debut as a substitute later in the month.
A loan move back to the fifth tier with Lincoln City followed in November 2015, and on his return, he left Bristol Rovers by mutual consent. In January 2016 he was back to the fifth tier when he signed for Torquay United, where he played 41 times and scored 12 goals in a 12-month stay.
In early January 2017, at the age of 26, the 6ft 4in target man arrived at Home Park to bolster Argyle's attacking options in the club's battle at the top of League Two.
He made 25 appearances across two seasons with Argyle, netting four times, but found his chances limited towards the mid-point of the 2017-18 season, with Derek Adams’ preference for a lone striker and Ryan Taylor returning from an opening-day injury.
In January 2018, in pursuit of first team games, Blissett elected to become a lone striker of a different spelling when he joined National League leaders Macclesfield Town on loan until the end of the season, helping them to return to the Football League after six years in the fifth tier. The move was made permanent that summer, but in December 2018, after a total of six goals in 41 games for the Silkmen, he dropped back into non-league football by signing for Solihull Moors (46 games, 14 goals).
In July 2020, Blissett moved to Maidenhead United (57 games, eight goals), and in July 2022 to AFC Telford United (29 games, one goal). Then in February 2023 he signed for Northern Premier League Premier Division club Stafford Rangers.
