Born: 01 November 1964
Came from: Barnsley Went to: St Mirren
First game: 13 January 1990 Last game: 07 April 1990

Broddle started his career with Sheffield United, making just a single appearance for their 1981-82 Fourth Division championship-winning side before moving to Scunthorpe United. He enjoyed a very successful spell with The Iron, playing 134 times in four seasons and scoring 32 times, making him one of Scunthorpe's Top 25 goal-scorers of all time. He was then signed by Barnsley and enjoyed a three-year spell at Oakwell before making the long move to Home Park in January 1990.
Although a forward for much of his earlier career, Broddle played mostly as a left-back for Argyle, making just nine appearances and only finishing once on the winning side. He was loaned briefly to Bradford City at the start of the following season before joining Paisley side St Mirren in December 1990, and then moved on to Partick Thistle where he saw out the 1992-93 season. Whilst at Thistle he briefly returned for a loan spell at Scunthorpe, who were now at Glanford Park.
Broddle then moved to Raith Rovers and enjoyed the most successful spell of his career, winning the League One title and the Scottish League Cup in the 1994-95 season and featuring subsequently in Rovers' European adventure alongside Jason Rowbotham and future Green Stevie Crawford. In total, he made 73 appearances for Raith before moving to East Fife for the 1995-96 season, and finally finishing his career with Ross County in 1996-97.
After retiring, Broddle became a police constable and was twice commended for bravery: in December 2001 after saving the life of a teenage girl, and a further commendation in February 2008 for "courage and commitment during routine duties".
